Who would you rather see in a Lakers uniform next season? |
Jimmy Butler, even if we'd have to include Clarkson |

The #2 pick: Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram |

Jimmy Butler, UNLESS we would have to include Clarkson. Then I'd keep the pick. |

Assuming we keep our Top 2 pick, I'm just curious to see where you all stand on the whole Butler/#2 debate, and why. _________________ In Rob I trust. |

Give me that #2. That would be a great core to just allow to grow by themselves, adding any free agents to that would be a cherry on top. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

Are you (bleep) kidding me? Clarkson and the pick is highway robbery for Butler. I'd give up the pick, Clarkson and Randle. _________________ "It was tough," Kobe Bryant said. "But when it got really tough for me, I just checked myself in." |

If we could get Butler without giving up Russell or Randle, I'd go for it, even if we had to include JC.
That said, the pick, JC, and the 32nd pick would be the absolute most that I'd offer. |

I get the whole idea that Butler is a proven entity, and is already successful in the NBA. I would not mind trading #2 and/or #2 Clarkson for him. Would be an awesome trade and I would not have much, if any complaint.
That being said, then there is the homer in me. I kinda like the idea of taking Ingram/Simmons (or whoever they pick), and growing them with our current core of Clarkson, Russell, Nance and Randle and develop them all together. Would be a lot of fun to see us build a good->great team through drafting and solid FA grabs. I like the idea of keeping our assets instead of trading them.
I do not like the idea of #2, Clarkson, Randle. That in my opinion is just to much to give up, even for the likes of Butler. Ingram and Simmons both look to have the ability to be successful in NBA, and Randle is definitely on his way to being a great player in the NBA. Jsut a little to much for me to give up. I would rather take my chances on what we have. |

The last time we had to rebuild (between Magic and Shaq) we had some good and popular draft picks (Jones, Van Exel, Lynch, Peeler) that were fun to watch. However, by the time we were ready to compete, not a one was on our roster. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I give up the 2 and Clarkson for Butler. That cap space can be used for something else. Like Horford and Durant? |

Laker fans are more than willing to wait for the players to develop. What we can't wait for is to find a competent coach. _________________ Don't let perfect be the enemy of good |

If Butler is offered for just the pick, I'm sure the Lakers would do it in hopes that Butler would help recruit KD/Horford _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Butler's camp used LA as a scare tactic to secure a long term deal with the Bulls. I don't believe he ever gave us a chance to make a pitch. I know he was restricted but we definitely would have talked to him. He's a good two way player. He's an all-star. But I wouldn't trade Clarkson and a potential franchise player for him. Clarkson will be a good player. Possibly a sixth man of the year type guy in the future. He wants to be a Laker. Simmons or Ingram can possibly become something special.
Now if we are talking K. Leonard, that's a different story. I'd trade quite a bit for him. Free agents want to play with someone like that so we wouldn't have a problem filling out the rest of the roster. |

Butler is a nice piece, but not a potential franchise player like Simmons or Ingram. The only two situations I'd trade the pick for him are:
1) It would guarantee us Durant or another superstar in the future
2) He'd be the last piece to put us into contention. Giving up the pick + Clarkson might make us better in the short term, but not enough to make the playoffs |

Only on LG will people say that arguably the best SG in the league is the 3rd best player on a championship team. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

Do people forget that Andrew Bogut, Anthony Benett, Andrea Bargnani were all number 1 draft picks?
You don't get an Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin or Lebron very often. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

I don't think its too farfetched to say he'd be the third best player on a championship team. You could make a case for Klay being the best SG in the league and its arguable that he's the third best player on the Warriors behind Steph and Dray. |

Sounds good. Now I challenge you to put a championship team together where butler is the best player on the floor. Go ahead, I'll wait... |

Certainly a team of Butler, Rose, Gasol, Gibson and McDermott can yake it to the Warriors. Oh wait.
Wait, isnt this about making JB the 2nd best player? |

Lol even as the second best player his team couldn't win it all. Could gsw win without dramond green? Are butler and Klay on the same level as players? I think so |
