Bill Oram ‏@billoram Oakland, CA
Door to Warrior practice just opened, Jarron Collins poked his head out and "I Love LA" blasted into the hallway. Hello, Luke!

Kobe is the only assistant he needs. Killer instinct specialist.

I'd like to see Blatt join our staff as the lead assistant. Experienced coach renowned for his X's and O's overseas to stabilize Luke's staff as he adjusts to running his own show. It would be excellent rehab for Blatt's image after the Cleveland debacle. That said, there's a chance he gets a head coaching look again.

Don't want Derek Fisher. Like many have already stated, we have enough drama as it already is, with the Buss family, D'Lo/Young incident. I don't want someone like Fisher around the young guys, I wonder if there will be trust issues on whichever team he works for next.

If Metta retires, I hope there is a spot for him on the staff somewhere.

Not to shift the focus off of baskeball, but I agree with you. With the cute girls our youngster are reeling in, do we want D. Fish circling around them like a shark. Just sayin'!

I think the Cleveland "debacle" is really overstated. It's not like he lost before he should have last year, or was doing poorly this year. LeBron and some other guys didn't like him, and that was that.

Chip Engelland. Either this guy is the most loyal SA assistant ever or no one is opening up their checkbooks. Double his (bleep) salary and bring him aboard.

They got the alpha male master class this season. Time to broaden their palate.

He's an LA guy too. I've heard funny stories about him shooting pull up 30 footers on 2-on-1 fast breaks and talking (bleep) to his own teammates after he makes them in pickup games.

Two awesome choices, guys. I'd love it if the Lakers/Luke went after these two. All this Shaw and Fisher talk was beginning to get to me tbh.

Also from a loyalty stand point I think Fisher will be on the staff next year, as a commutator and leadership role.

I don't like the idea of occupying the assistant coaching staff with former head coaches who might view the opportunity as a holding pattern position to re-launch themselves back into the head coaching ranks, but some of the young names floating around are perplexing, too. Dick Jefferson? I never really viewed him as a particularly cerebral player. Is he one of the high BBIQ guys?

Agree. This is where we should really flex our large market strength. Just go after some of the better assistants and player development coaches with big money.

This particular coach also has deep roots in and around the LA area. It would be a coup to retrieve him from San Antonio, but we should certainly make the effort.

We should have a Filipino petition and send it to Chip so that he'll move to the Lakers. He's a hoops hero back in the Philippines. And yes I've seen him shoot 30 footers back in those days like it was nothing. He'll be great at fixing the shots of Randle etc.

Matt Barnes I'm sure would agree as well.

And yes, please none of those pansy assistant coach lineup that Byron Scott had. There's a lot of work to be done especially in terms of player development with all the young players we have. We need legit assistant coaches. I don't even want to see Mark Madsen there. He brings absolutely nothing.

Oh I so agree with this. Its not like theres cap room for coaches and assistant coaches...

BTW...

The Lakers better not spare any expense on a MEDICAL TEAM since Gary Vitti is out...

Hell, they should go after some PHOENIX MEDICAL STAFF so our players will always be in top shape.

Exactly. Find any of the best assistants, medical staff, training staff, etc and be all like "Hey, whatever they're paying you, we'll double it".

Had no clue he was LA guy. Lakers better JUMP ON THIS!!! He can fix Randle's jumper too! Murray gonna have to prove it to me cuz I don't believe he's a quality shooting coach right now

Chip Engelland was Palisades High's prized shooter before leaving for Duke in 1979, only to be followed by Steve Kerr, who started as a freshman the next year.
