I would like a defensive minded coach, but I do like the direction their going with this coaching staff and placing a premium on developmental coaches.
You should see see what Rap fans think about the move. They are acting as if he has no reason to go to LA cause they are rebuilding or he should go cause Luke will be fired mid-season and he will be the interim coach.
For a team that had a successful season for the first time in there history Raptor fans sure seem like they love being the cocky fan base.
According to them he's leaving one d-league team for another and our young core isn't very promising lol. One or two years of winning really went to their fan bases head
Lol even if our young core is trash, going from coaching in the D-League to the NBA is an obvious promotion.
he had sooooo many opportunities to call them soft
Lakers have done it. They've found the anti-Byron. This is indeed an anomaly. *head asplodes*
Incredible restraint there. I like this dude
Same thing I was thinking. That was a very impressive response. Every team needs a 'good cop' and he looks like our guy. Now we just need a bad cop _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points."

Byron Scott deserves respect for trying his best with a suspect roster.
Luke Walton is a good fit with the new style of the NBA.
Ball movement, player movement, 3 pt shot, and swarming defense.
Bolded: Hell no, he did nothing to earn respect as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers
Italicized: Really? Admitting that he's completely clueless about how to help the team, refusing to change in even the slightest ways, refusing to communicate with his team's prized rookies, and not even getting ONE SINGLE technical in support of his team was trying his best? I'd really hate to see what it would be like if Byron had mailed it in.
Underlined: No one expected him to win a championship or even make the playoffs. We did expect him to actually coach the team to where they look competent. He did not accomplish that and actually made things far worse than D'Antoni

Agreed. Look, even if we go conspiracy theory and he was covertly following higher orders from Mitch and Jim and subsequently wasn't retained for year 3 of the contract, you don't go out like he did with all his interviews and comments. He was essentially jobless prior to becoming the Lakers HC. Nobody wanted him, and for good reason. Even if (and I doubt it) the Lakers set him up to be a sacrificial lamb in the rebuild, you friggin' thank the FO for giving you $8.5 million for cripesakes and fade into oblivion without a word. But he didn't do any of that. The Lakers were the second worst team because he was the worst coach in the league. Not because of a tank command he was given. You don't intentionally suck and pin your hopes on a draft choice that you only had a coin flip chance of keeping. The Lakers lucked out the lotto gods didn't frown upon them.

I (bleep) love this guy. Seems super cool and nice. _________________ "The best there is. The best there was. The best there ever will be.", said Bret Hart regarding the Los Angeles Lakers.

I'm not going to disagree at this moment because it all seems right, but there is still the possibility that the prized rookies aren't that prized because he really couldn't do a so terrible job with CP3 and Kyrie. The time will tell, at this moment I tend to agree while keeping some doubts. He is a bad coach for sure.

So DLO isn't CP3 (a 1st ballot HOFer, top 10 PG of all time) in his rookie year? Sorry.
Kyrie is also a supremely talented player, but Byron didn't exactly instill winning ways in him during his tenure there. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
