Does anyone know which assistants are well reputed for their defense? All I know is Tim Grgurich and Ron Adams. Lol. |

Mike Longabardi, who joined the Cavs after being let go by Phoenix midseason. He's another extended Van Gundy tree guy and not yet a lead assistant coach. Would be tough to get him to leave a team that just won a championship for just a lateral position though.
I do hope we try to make a run at Grgurich. |

With Mike Brown reportedly getting Kerr's top assistant job, I wonder if that puts Ron Adams in play. Both coaches are principally defensive facing and a nice offer from LA along with the opportunity to build something from the ground up may hold interest. He spent years with the young OKC group and did something similar with the Celtics a couple years ago.
He also joined GS as an assistant to first year head coach Kerr. Could be he's a guy that can help with some of that Coach's coach type role. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

It would be like my best friend reporting to me at work. |
I would say it could be good because he would immediately become our best option at starting SF.
I know, I know,.....a coach. But get him in LA and then just say, yes...you have a coaching job but we need you to play also and overpay him for a 2 year deal. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

So glad to have BShaw back with us. He looks happy to be here. I think he'll do wonders for our young guys and help Luke out a lot along the way. |

Is Jesse official yet? Last time Luke was asked he said things were close. I really became a fan of his from watching his postgame interviews with the Raptors D-League team. lol |

Madsen's just always going to be that guy that is at the very end of the assistant coaches bench. "we've got assistant coach X, and assistant coach Y, and assistant coach Z...and, oh yeah, what's that other guys name...Mark Madsen?? yeah, he's a coach too, I guess" _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

Is this his completed staff?? What about Chris DeMarco? What about our defensive specialist? VERY underwhelming if this is it. |

This doesn't get one overly excited. But I guess if you are a "rookie" coach with all young player you just don't get everybody interested to be an assistant. |

I was hoping they'd give Madsen's spot to MWP. Not sure what Madsen brings to the job. He's one of those guys I look at and think he's never going to sit in the big chair. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Mark Madsen is bright, enthusiastic, articulate, and had an amazing work ethic as a player. Guys like Shaq and KG publicly praised him as a teammate. I don't see why he would be anything other than a great assistant coach. Who's to say he's not already a good Xs-and-Os guy? |

Because he was part of the coaching staff last year and well we know how that turned out. Plus I remember him running the summer league team last year and being unimpressed. |

OK, so I assume that you think it would have been better for Luke to hire Mike Brown as an assistant? A bright defense-minded Xs and Os guy.
That's a rhetorical question, because he's been hired to replace Luke on the GSW staff. Which means that despite having a poor reputation among fans as a coach, the NBA community respects his skills enough that he can join the best team in the league.
My point is, don't jump to conclusions about Mad Dog. I'd rather he get the chance to grow along with our young team. If he shows the team that he lacks value as an assistant, then they can replace him. |
