Is this the start of the next Golden Age of our Beloved Lakers?
Can these 2 youngsters bring us back to Glory?
Maybe appease Jeanne and bring back PJax as an advisor only with no personnel power???
I hope so.....West & Walton....sounds like a good team. |

Yes...
With Kobe's retirement...
Byron's firing...
Young new blood with the possibility of a 1-3 draft pick...
New coach..
These new Lakers will usher in Prince's hit song...Purple Reign _________________ The Gospel in a nutshell: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 |

I think Mitch will guide the team through this rebuild and leave the cupboard stocked for Ryan, returning the favor from father to son. |

Please, No more Phil Jackson. If he wants to consult, fine. But no raised seat status. Time to progress to the next generation. Phil had a 20 year run, he is 70 year old who can't scout or do anything his position really requires. _________________ Because we're better than you! |

That would be cool to see Ryan West eventually become our GM. Unfortunately, I feel that if Phil steps in, then all hopes of that will be lost. |

People forget that it's not just Jeanie's decision if Phil comes back. Lakers are obviously grooming Ryan West to takeover, I mean Jerry West sees Jeannie as a daughter. She wouldn't screw his son over like that. |

If there's one thing i take from this coaching debacle is that the media dont know (bleep) about what's going on with the Lakers really.
They just speculate based on a few rumors and whatnot, the coaching search was supposed to take a while and have a couple of coaches, when in reality the Lakers were zero'd in Luke Walton. I mean, Mitch is the first to not really answer honestly to the media questions.
We just gotta accept that Jim and Mitch do their own thing on their own timeline, they're just unique like that. It's not worth it to speculate or extrapolate based on things nobody really knows about.
To give you an example, even Kevin Ding, that is supposed to be like the reporter with most inside knowledge of the Lakers criticized the coaching search, saying that the Lakers should've really have one option (Walton) and that because they were contacting other coaches and whatnot, it proved they have no direction and all that shtick.
Well, so much for that. It was Walton the guy all along, probably even had conversations with Mitch well before the season ended. It is what it is, let's trust Mitch |

It's Westbrook-Durant or bust, bro.
We see things in absolutes when incremental growth is far more critical. |

Because of the absurd expectations already. Golden Age ... people need to learn how to use that term in its proper context. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

Op didn't say it will happen, just wondering if it can. I don't see the harm in that _________________ LeBron, AD, & _________. Stay tuned.

While it is a little premature to say "golden age", I must admit I like this thread better than the "anybody else forget what it's like to win" fatalism. The are reasons for hope, and what a wonderful heritage!
It is important to remember that success takes patience and looking not for the last best thing, but the next best thing.
This is a step in that direction.
The climb won't be instantaneous, the impatient criticism will be trying, but there is hope and heritage! |

It is a kind amusing that folks are getting all bent about hoping this is the start of a new Golden Age for the Lakers.
The Lakers had a 5 trophy run with Magic and another with Kobe. It can happen again.
Isn't this this what we has Lakers fans should be hoping for?
Isn't this what we want?
Will it happen with West and Walton?? I hope so.
If you don't have the same hope and optimism then there really is no need to be little Miss Debbie Downer. There are other threads out there that fit your style. |

What's Ryan West really done? A couple of good 2nd round picks and the last name WEST?
What's Luke Walton really done? I like the hire BUT I want to see him coach a team with a lot less talent.
I'll give them labels once we start seeing results.
I'm optimistic but far from comparing this to the Magic & Kobe dynasties of the past 30 years. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

If you look at the game today, a lot of second generation players are having tremendous success. I think it is a distinct advantage being brought up around the game. I think the future is bright, and while Rome was not built in a day, there is more reason to be excited based solely on the decision to hire Luke.
Ryan West is a great young basketball mind too and I think they offer a future filled with many success'. With their collective knowledge of the game, it will be interesting to see what types of teams we will build going forward. While I am finally getting excited about playing style again, it will come down to Rings, and I think they will win some...$.02 _________________ Magic*Kobe*LBJ*AD*Cap |
