thats what is really happening right now. Smush started off well, Sasha had a couple games, Kwame had a couple games, Lamar shows he's has talent, Mihm shows promise, etc.
Besides Kobe trying to take over every game, we have no consistent talent _________________ “YO JEANIE, WHATS UP MY BIIIAAACCCHH!” – COCA JAMES ON 1540AM THE TICKET LAKERS ROUNDTABLE - 03/02/06

It's the progression of the season on all fronts. This year is quietly zooming by. There's only 34 games left. Teams that are vying for PO positioning are starting to dig in their heels. It is more commonly known as a 2nd gear. Teams like the Cavs, the Heat, and the CLIPPERs have kicked into 2nd gear. The Lakers played pretty well in 1st gear, but we have yet to show that we even have a 2nd gear. We are unable to match what these other teams are bringing. In fact, we're losing traction.
34 games....that's not a whole lot of time to get from where we are now (which is pretty dire) to where we need to be if we're gonna snatch a playoff berth. |

If Kobe didn't resign with us last year, than that would be considered rebuilding.
Now, we have one of the best player in the league. We are half way there. Kupcake needs to get us one more all star so that we can compete. |

Blame Mitch. Some people called this out even as far back as the offseason and were labelled "Haters". The truth is finally being shown. |

I didn't realize that we only have 34 games left. Kinda changes your perspective on the rest of the season. |

What annoys about the current Lakers mgmt is they act like they are surprised when injuries happen.
You have to expect injuries to happen which is why teams like the Spurs have two starting five's essentially while we have holes the size of craters on our bench. We simply have five guys on the bench who should not even be in the league.
Thin Roster + Inevitable Key Injury = Lottery _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

it's frustrating when we basically rant about most of our guys...Luke, Sasha, Kwame, Smush, Cook, George, Odom...wow, this team is seriously lacking. It used to be only Samaki and Fish (debatable), now it's close to complaining about the entire roster. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. No. Rebuilding is when the goal is to get better.
The goal, we've been told, is to wait until 2007, or maybe 2008 before they rebuild.
Right now is what you call rotting. If no serious attempt is going to be made to get talent this year or the offseason then you cannot possibly call it rebuilding.
Over many years of watching the NBA I can't say I ever recall seeing a team other than maybe the Clippers do nothing to seriously improve for several consecutive years. There's teams that suck just because of poor management (the Knicks for instance), but they at least make moves to improve (albeit stupid ones). Our management not only sucks (I say this based on Mitch's track record), but they're not even attempting moves, good or bad. That isn't rebuilding.
So they're waiting for KG or waiting for Lebron. Fine. Guess what? Your chances of attracting such a player are better if there's talent on the team. Who wants to come to a team with Kobe and D-league talent? Who wants to trade, even under duress, a star player for what we've got?
To even be in the position they want to be in they need to improve the roster. That is rebuilding.
This is just pathetic. |

That super scrub duo of Sasha and Luke continue to play when they should be 11th and 12th guys on the roster rotting benchside. Kwame should never shoot the ball agian and should be only used when the Lakers need to give some fouls.
New rotation if Philip wasn't in a drug induced coma:
C)Mihm/Bynum/Kwame
PF)Cook/Turiaf/Kwame
SF)Odom/George
SG)Kobe/George
PG)Smush/Kobe
No more super scrub combo please and Kwame only plays when the big guys get in foul trouble. Either tighten the rotation, sign some 10 day contracts or make a minor trade...enough with these sorry excuse for NBA players. |
