I use to feel that these two guys might not be a good fit for eachother because they both like to handle the ball. Now with Luke here, I feel that these two guys are good fits. Could be similar to a Steph/Draymond type combo. |

They are very good friends off the court. There isn't another place Simmons would rather be, and the Russell "incident" doesn't change that.
As for the fit issues, Russell+Simmons is easier to build around than Russell+Ingram, though I'd be happy with either one. |

I wouldn't support us drafting Simmons if we had the 1st pick and they were highschool sweethearts, I just don't see Ben being better than Ingram in 5 years |

Honestly Ingram and Simmons are so close in terms of upside that if Simmons has a tantrum I can see Philly easily passing on him. |

Simmons was definitely the star in terms of attention from media and recruiters. In terms of effectiveness on the team it was closer, especially given that Russell was the senior when they played together. Russell won the MVP of the Tournament of Champions. Simmons won MVP at the City of Palms and the Dick's National Championship Tournament. |

Russell was a year ahead, but it appears Simmons was more highly regarded.
In Simmons' SOPH ('13) and JR ('14) years, with Russell's JR ('13) and SR ('14) years, they were back to back national champions. Simmons then completed the 3-peat his SR year ('15) without Russell. Simmons was the Finals Tournament MVP for the last 2 titles.
In 2014, they were 28-0. Statlines:
Simmons: 18.5 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 2.7 apg
Russell: 19.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.7 apg
Simmons SR. statline was 28/12/4 and 71% FG |

If Simmons is drafted to the Lakers, this is gonna be the equivalent of "Did you know Josh Smith played AAU basketball with Dwight Howard?" We're gonna hear it every national broadcast. |
