The draft lottery is just five days away. It anxiously awaits us and the entire fan base is nervous and rightfully so. Losing the pick would be a huge blow after enduring what we did the last season with the worst record in franchise history. We were in this exact position last season and we ended up keeping our pick and getting a kid who many think can be a superstar in this league. I'm certainly one of them and that's why while I'd be very disappointed and upset it wouldn't be the end of the world for me. We still would have a lot of cap space to work with and along with D'Angelo with three other really good young basketball players and a new coach who fits with the core perfectly. How down would you be?

It will hurt but I won't be that upset. Luke as new coach has made it easier, IMO.

Yeah. If Byron was here I would certainly curl up on the floor and assume a fetal position.

Would love to have it. I think it'll sting for a good solid 5 minutes and then it's on to Free Agency.

We don't have the pick imo. I feel like we already lost the pick, now if we were to win the lottery, we'll get a pick. As of now, we have the 32nd pick in the draft and I'm looking at prospects in that range. The only thing that will upset me about it is that the front office says if we don't get this one, we'll have our pick next year. Well, I doubt that pick will be in the top 2-3. You aren't going to be picking from the same talent level if your picking in the 6-10 range which is more likely next year. I'd rather give away a pick when our record is improving.

EDIT:Naturally, I'll still be pissed when it becomes official. I'll also piss and moan about it for a while too.

i'll be honest, it'd be pretty upsetting

To tank to a 17 win season and not get the pick...

Not down at all.

Was already thinking about what FO would do moving forward if the team were to lose the pick.

We really need this pick. Tired of tanking. I'll be ecstatic even if we fell to the 3rd pick.

I'd be hurting. I've kinda made my mind up we are getting a top 3. Every year someone gets screwed in the draft, I just hope it's not us. 3 years in the lottery and abundance of picks and we walk away with Clarkson, Randle, Russell, Nance, Brown, Ingram/Hield, Onuaku. That's how you rebuild a franchise. Granted you're just eliminating Hield or Ingram but still.

This is the reason why I havent invested any time in looking up the top prospects besides a little youtube clips here and there to kill the time. I figured if we lose the pick, at least I didn't waste a lot of my time analyzing these guys strength and weaknesses. However, with that said, if we do keep our pick, I look forward to discussing all the intricate details that go along with drafting one of the top 3 prospects with you all. But for now, my built in self-defense mechanism won't allow me to enjoy that process

EDIT: Plus tankathon says we lose the pick just about every time I do it, so there's that, too

It will hurt bad. Especially if Boston is in the top 2.

I think we'll be Ok without the pick, but it would be a huge loss. We're not going to be world beaters next year, but I definitely expect us to be better than we were this year. It's not very often that you get the opportunity to to get a draft pick this valuable.

We don't really need this pick. If we have it great. If not, on to free agency. We already lucked out in 2015 and came out well. 2014 was great too.

Outside of the top 2 picks there is a pretty steep drop off. If we end up with the 3rd pick I expect it to be traded.

If we convey the pick to Philly this year our pick is unprotected next year and looking ahead, a 5-10 pick next year will net us a better player than the 3rd pick will this year Imho. That said Id be ecstatic to get either Simmons or Ingram this year.

No Ill not be upset because we get a pick next year and won't have to tank for it.

Maybe Boston or Philly will sell us one of their multiple 1st rounders?

Somewhat less than devastated, but somehow not surprised.

I'm not superstitious as a rule, but they really should have Luke there. Face it, the man maximizes his opportunities, but he somehow always ends up in the right place at the right time.

Well, the loss of ownership of the pick would be disappointing in terms of having to endure the 15-16 season for essentially a 50-50 proposition. But we've known about the odds for a while now.

I can live with the risk easily. Hell, it's one of the few possibly exciting moments in near-term Laker basketball and it's been a dry spell for excitement these past four or so years.

Likewise. It means that we lost on either the 4th or 5th selection in a below average draft. Sure, I'd rather have it, but I don't view it as a huge loss. There's definitely a "we went through that (bleep) season for nothing?" feeling, but we should have never been in this position in the first place.
