This probably means Dwight is trying to engineer his way out of Houston already. I just don't see Dwight and his diminishing athleticism and bad back flourishing in MDA's offense. It didn't work the first time. It probably won't work again the second time.

I wonder if Dwight and his agent will try to work something out to where he ends up in Orlando or Dallas.

What's funny is if Dwight was just willing to play the way D'antoni wants him to play he'd probably have a career resurgence.

Howard won't opt-in with Mike D there (looking like it's him). The team will be fun to watch, which is what the owner wants. Too bad the owner isn't making winning the top priority.

Let's see who the defensive assistants are, but we blew it IMO. You have Vogel, Joerger and JVG on the market and you wind up with Mike D. Shame on you Les (this is his hire).

I thought you said the rumours aren't true, now D'Antoni is the front runner and top coaching candidate for your rockets

Where did I say that? Link? I did say I trust the local writers scoop that he didn't have a 2nd interview. I also said I wouldn't be shocked if he was a serious candidate. Should I link it for you?

Our owner likes fast paced offense. Him being interested in Mike D is not a shocker, although I don't like the move personally.

Just look a couple of posts above. You said your local beat writer refuted it and Mike D'Antoni is not the front runner.

As far as who else there is for the job, Vogel, JVG and Messina (interviewed on Saturday).

Harden will do well dantoni offense. Dantoni doesn't teach any defense and harden doesn't play any defense

I remember Harden being more of a team player in OKC, maybe a culture change in Houston can help. Also they need more playmakers on the team.

Other than Harden who else can setup anyone up on the current Houston team?

No one. It's a horrible hire for how the roster is currently constructed. But when Howard opts out the team can move one of Ariza/Brewer and have around $40M to change the roster. I still think it's a bad hire in general.

I just want to see how D'Antoni does given another team. He could take them to west finals like he did phoenix.

The Rockets will be a lottery team if they hire no defense D'Antoni. This will be the last coach Morey hires.

Doubt it. He's a brilliant offensive mind and gets teams to the playoffs most times. I don't think we will be a championship team with him though. At the end of the day he's still a better coach than we've had since Adelman left, but the owner should aim higher.

Morey wanted JVG. This is Les's hire, same as our prior coaches. He's the one that likes fast pace and scoring. It's why JVG was let go in the first place, and it's no coincidence that all of the coaches to get an interview are offense based and none of the defensive based ones interviewed.

Well, we Laker fans can feel your pain. We lived through it for the past 5 years. I'm hoping that our team is turning a corner, and that your team's hell doesn't last all that long.

Harden's game and MDA's preferred style seem antithetical. Harden lacks the passing instincts and "get everyone involved" mentality that Nash had.

Houstin does shot the three more than anyone in the league, though, so maybe he and Harden have more in common than one supposes.

Their defense wil suck, though, unless MDA hires assistant who actually care about that end.

That is typically the sentiment that completes the Dwight Howard Experience.
