|
|
Looking ahead a bit, now that we've obtained the 2nd overall pick, Ingram/Simmons are ours. It's definitely an exciting prospect looking forward with all the young talent we have on this roster.
Ingram/Simmons - 18/19
Russell - 20
Randle - 21
Clarkson - 23
Brown - 23
Nance - 23
Black - 24
Assuming JC and Black both return, and we have no reason to assume otherwise (both restricted), this is an extremely young roster. About half of the roster will be under 24. This is also not taking into account our 32nd pick. If we actually use that pick and don't "stash and save" someone overseas, we're going to have a ton young guys coming in. Not to mention the youngest head coach in the league, Luke Walton.
We all saw what happened last year between Russell and Young, and what happened in Philadelphia with Okafor. I think it will be extremely important next year, more than ever, to round out the roster with some solid vets to keep these young guys in check. Philly ended up signing Elton Brand midway through the season for some veteran presence, and I'm sure his guidance was a positive influence for Okafor. I really liked what Minnesota had going did with KG and Tayshaun Prince mentoring their youngsters.
Kobe is retired and Bass/Hibbert are likely gone. Not exactly sure what MWP's status is, I guess I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to bringing him back as a 15th man. Who are some other guys we can possibly target in free agency to fill the leadership void? |

If we're looking at the non-max "affordable" category, these are some of the guys who can provide some leadership:
Luol Deng
Jared Dudley
Joakim Noah
Luis Scola
Gerald Henderson |

I would go after Noah and if he opts out, Pau. I'd roll the dice to try to get both of them. I'd split their minutes evenly with the goal of getting them into the post season with fresh legs.
I don't have time to elucidate, but there's a ton of reasons why both these 2 guys could breathe some new life into the center position and would fit well into a hybrid Warriors type offense. More importantly, both are at the age where they will provide solid leadership for the youngsters. |

Huertas or Steve Black at PG
I hope we can get some center. Might be Horford? If so then that's the vet. If it's not him, but someone like Ezeli or Biyombolombo, then some old ass vet center would be nice. Doesn't even need to play minutes (give them to Black instead. Not steve, tarik)
MWP would be nice, but doesn't need minutes either.
Then some actual players that play minutes... uhh.... I mean I would look at Deng but only if he wants to be a backup _________________ Kobe |

Bass seemed to be a good veteran influence. Why not just re-sign him? Would he be more expensive than some of these other vets available? _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

I would sign a max guy like DD or Whiteside and get fillers like gasol and bass as well. Hopefully we can get KD, but that's unlikely with his recent postseason success _________________ Billions Billions Billions |

I will go aftet LDeng & JNoah to be our starters @ C & SF. They played together with the Bulls and know each other. Ingram will have a lot of trouble defending against starting SF in his rookie year and this can shattered his shooting confidence so I will bring him from the bench.
I will also ink CLee and BBass.
As you can see, I am in the realistic side of thinking and believe although we will try, all those stars will stay put, maybe with the exception of AHortford who can go to Orlando or Miami.
Nevertheless, If it goes this way, I will be very happy and put the aprooval seal of a sucessfull summer. |

Would a 1-yr/30mil placeholder deal for Pau be crazy? Lol. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Joakim Noah
Jon Leuer
Luol Deng
Mike Conley
We would be 10 deep with additional cap space to burn next offseason. Young guns grow into stars.
All gritty signings. Team first guys. Don't need the ball to be effective. Vets. |

I wouldn't be surprised if David Lee were to sign with us this summer, being that Luke is here now. Other guys I would like would be Courtney Lee, and Noah |

Also Nic Batum
Can Chandler Parsons be a leader type or no?
I think we will sign EZELI or NOAH or BIYOMBO and then sign versatile wings like Batum/Deng/C.Lee/Rush and a vet min big guy like David Lee _________________ 24 |

I still don't see Batum leaving Charlotte who probably offers him a 5 year deal. And we will likely draft a SF that may make Batum leery of having a guy like Simmons or Ingram being groomed to replace him. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Talking about role players/back ups:
Bring back Huertas and Black on minimum or close to min
Bass was a gem last season, he prob gonna get overpaid. How high should we be willing to get Bass?
other ex-lakers role players:
Jordan Hill would be a good big back up
Matt Barnes is another good back up
others:
David Lee prob too expensive
Leandro Barbosa if we can steal him from GSW (unless severely underpaid, prob won't leave a championship team)
I don't know how much these players would cost us, especially if we have a chance for superstars team up this summer (pipe dream, i know) |

At his age, he prob would join Spurs ala D.West (he took less money to leave us last yr), especially if Duncan/Ginobilli off the cap |

Sign Ezeli, Batum, C.Lee, D.Lee, Noah (or Motiejunas)
EZELI / NOAH / BLACK
RANDLE / NANCE / D.LEE
BATUM / INGRAM / BROWN
CLARKSON / C.LEE
RUSSELL / LOU / HUERTAS
Plus second round pick
Noah, Batum, C.Lee, D.Lee can be the positive vet presences _________________ 24 |

If you're Batum, are you taking a 4 year deal (instead of 5) to join the Lakers, all the while having a blue chipper like Ingram constantly nipping at your heels to take over your spot? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
