The Triangle was never going to work with the players they have on the roster. Didn't they try running it last year with Fisher and it turned into an utter disaster? Frankly most of the time when Knicks basketball was worth a damn it was more of a run and gun type offense. |

The Suns quit on Hornacek early in the season. He lost the players trust. His system needs a top tier PG. He's better then Rambis but it won't make that much of a difference without an elite PG. |

Wonder how long before they fire him for not getting the most out of his players triangle-ness. _________________ We back. |

http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/05/19/the-isiah-thomas-jeff-hornacek-knicks-conspiracy-theory/
Quote: | The Isiah Thomas-Jeff Hornacek-Knicks conspiracy theory
Why did Phil Jackson – after all indications to the contrary – reach outside his coaching tree to hire Jeff Hornacek? The early spin is that the Knicks president likes the way Hornacek thinks the game.
But was Jackson fully behind the Hornacek hire?
Ken Berger of CBSSports.com:
Of course, there’s also the suggestion that the Hornacek hire came at the behest of Isiah Thomas, whose high school coach in Chicago, Gene Pingatore, has employed Hornacek’s father, John, as his lead assistant for 25 years.
This might not be fair. Jeff Hornacek has been involved in basketball for decades and has established many connections. Add degrees of separation, and you can connect him to thousands of people. One of them being Isiah Thomas isn’t necessarily relevant here.
But as long as Knicks owner James Dolan continues to give Thomas jobs – Knicks president, Knicks coach, Knicks consultant, something, Liberty president – and express his personal affinity for Thomas, people will speculate. Dolan invites it.
The Knicks are the only team in the NBA where you can’t be sure the guy being paid $12 million per year to run basketball operations is truly running basketball operations. |

Just like us. Coaching isn't their biggest problem.
Lack of above-average talent is.
We'll see what happens this free agency...for both of us. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Better chance of him going to Houston if they hire MDA. |

http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/06/01/report-knicks-agree-to-three-year-contract-with-jeff-hornacek/
Quote: | Report: Knicks agree to three-year contract with Jeff Hornacek
The Knicks decided to hire Jeff Hornacek.
Now, they’re actually doing it.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
Jeff Hornacek has reached agreement on a three-year contract to coach the New York Knicks, league sources told The Vertical.
What more could Hornacek ask for? He has players – including Carmelo Anthony and Jose Calderon – excited for his tenure. He doesn’t have to run the triangle offense. And his contract runs as long as Phil Jackson’s.
They’re still the Knicks, and James Dolan still looms. But this isn’t a bad job at all. |

Ian Begley:
Quote: | The Knicks have incorporated the triangle offense in their workouts with some college prospects this week, sources close to the prospects say. This is noteworthy because new coach Jeff Hornacek reportedly has the freedom to tweak the Knicks' triangle offense. But, if the workouts are any indication, it seems as if the triangle will still be a significant part of the Knick offense. Hornacek and Phil Jackson were the Knicks' gym for workouts on Thursday and the triangle was a point of emphasis during those workouts, according to SNY.tv. So how much triangle will the Knicks run next season? That remains to be seen. We should get more clarity on the future of the offense Friday during the introductory press conference for Hornacek. |

Obviously it was a middle ground hire for Phil and Dolan in the sense that - hire someone other than Rambis for the optics; but they will still run triangle centric ball, just had to find the coach willing to bend over and take it in the triangle |
