He seems to fit a lot of the criteria for the center position of the Golden State style offense.
Bogut per 36 numbers:
9.3ppg, 12.2rpg, 4.0apg, 2.8bpg
Gasol per 36 numbers:
18.7ppg, 12.5rpg, 4.6apg, 2.3bpg
He's a better passer and a much better scorer than Bogut. His rebounds and blocks numbers are about the same. Sure he is old but he's a 7 footer, they last longer and he proved last year that he still has a lot of game left. He's still playing big minutes too. We won't even need him to play big minutes, with Nance off the bench, etc. Sure he had a tough time in L.A. last time but, can Luke, Shaw, Kobe, etc. convince him to come back?

I'd like to bring him back, but here's my problem: he's not capable of playing the center position, because he's a bad rim protector, if you pair him with a rim protector, he doesn't want to stretch out to the three, and he doesn't want to come off the bench. At this point of his career, Pau has his limitations. He'd most likely be the number one option, if he were to come here, unless we get someone else in FA, but defensively, I'd worry about a pairing of him with Randle. You'd probably have to start Nance over Randle, if you were to get Pau.
Could they? Sure. Should they? No. He is too slow to play at the pace the team will want to play.
That counts a lot of people out then. I'm not sure how fast Bogut and Ezili are with their creaky knees. What big out there is fast? Not many. I guess we could also count out Noah if that's the case. Whiteside runs the floor ok I guess? But he don't pass the ball at all. Our best bests would be Horford and Biyombo, but we really got to convince them to sign with us.

He managed to block 2 shots per game last season. Do you have his rim protection % stats?

46.3%, which isn't terrible, but the stats don't tell the whole story:

He's actually a decent rim protector, the problem is that's because he's just sagging back into the lane on everything. He no longer rotates quickly, or often at all. Because he sags back and picks up a bunch of rebounds and blocks, people think he's more effective than he is. _________________ “We must always take sides. Lakers should add Pau if they decide to blow up the youth and try to win now instead.
IF the lakers traded the #2 pick + (Ingram or D'Lo or Randle) for Jimmy Butler & signed Kevin Durant +/- Hassan Whiteside in Free Agency. Then, and only then, would it make sense to go after Pau. _________________

When a player leaves their team to take less money somewhere else. He isn't coming back.
And obviously, he can't be bought into coming back. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

Pau isn't a win now mode player and Chicago found out the hard way. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins
