I'm sorry if this thread is to random.

But assuming ( No Big FA signing) or Big trade, which player once we get Ben Simmons or Ingram would you want to lead this franchise in the future assuming we can't get our guy in a trade or FA and LA needs to ride out the young core.

It looks like Ingram will be the #1a guy. I can see Russell being the 1b option. Ingram is wired to be a go to guy, or someone that carries a team. Russell has the same DNA, but I don't think he has the physical tools to do it at the same level that Ingram should be able to.

I would prefer D'Angelo#1 option if we get Ingram, but if we get Simmons he should be the #1 option

I do think the future will be lead by whoever we select between Simmons and Ingram and then decide if Russell or Simmons/Ingram will be the guy who leads the team for the next decade.

Who cares, I think the "# 1 option" is outdated thinking....it's more about getting solid players, playing team ball, trying to produce the bed shot available and whomever has that shot should shoot.

Some of that is due to times changing, some of that is due to the fact we don't have Kobe, Jordan etc players who could be the offensive focal point, that all opposing teams knew would be the focal point but still couldn't stop

In terms of handling the ball, I expect it to be in the hands of our guards most often, both who can score, both who are fine with passing. You'll see randle handle on the break off and on

BUT the # 1 option is the team

No player in or roster or first year player has proofed anything to be considered the face of such a legendary franchise like LA Lakers.

Among them all at this moment we have a past NBA first rookie team in Clarkson that didn't really progressed in his second season enough to be the savior of anything. After him we have a #2 pick with a dozen of great games under a terrible coach that struggled the last two months of the season after a promising run post all star break and a double double machine that lacks knowledgement of the nuances of game and is a bellow average finisher around the rim without a jump shot to compensate his deficiencies.

They are all talented, young and promising, but until they start at least to defend like average NBA starters, they are franchise player material just in the mind of us fans of a 17 win team.

None of them should be given the keys. They should go out there and play the best basketball they can to help the team win games. If they are good enough they will earn what they deserve.

No keys should be handed out. Free flowing offense will be installed, and the cream will rise to the top.

I think it will run a lot like Shaq + Kobe. DLo will do most of the heavy lifting during the game (Shaq role) as the prime initiator. Ingram/Simmons will be the Closer, when all else fails give it to him and get out of the way guy (Kobe role).

Not sure who you would term as the #1 option in these scenarios.

If Lukes offense benefits everyone from having a balance attack then that would be even better it would make all the young guys look good.

Love d'angelo. Love his game. I think he's that guy going forward. Imo, his talent potential overall is the best out of all the young guys coming up including this year's draft. That's not saying he's going to be a lebron or steph but I think he'll be an all star caliber player.

Even so, pretty obvious steph, klay and draymond make the difference in the Warriors offense.

I think Clarkson will be the 1st option next year and avg an efficient 20 ppg. Ingram has the potential to be the best scorer out of all the young players, but it'll take him 3 to 4 years to avg 25 ppg.
