I haven't followed the draft much at all but the recent sons of former nba players seem to be doing well

Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, Gary Lance

I see Gary Payton II is in the draft and supposedly in the 32nd pick range. I say go for him. Any other ideas?

Could package it with Lou to move down into the 1st round.

many have spoken, including Mitch, that there are 30 or so candidates for the 32nd pick. Alot of moving chairs from 15 to 45, some may slip to 32? Some may come out of no where and move into the 32nd spot.

kay felder is a guy i have preached on about, 4th in the nation in scoring and 1st in assists, A real energizer off of the bench as a back up. D.Murray may slip to 32.

A few bigs like Diamond Stone may be there, and a few others that will be looked at under a microscope I am sure of.

Needs will also play into the choice. depending on what targets the FO have have, and whom they think they can bring into summer league that got un-drafted and could become a steal...

You will hear a lot of names with that pick...

My preference is a center, but that's just me.

Lakers need depth at the position and it looks like several decent center prospects with different skillsets should be available.

Kind of a "eye of the beholder" choice.

I mentioned this in the draft thread, but what about Zhou Qi out of China. I saw his workout footage and he reminds me of a mobile Ewing on offense. This is what SI had to say about him recently.

40. Zhou Qi | Xinjiang (China) | C | 7’2”, 218 | 20

"He’s enormous, mobile, blocks shots and can shoot jumpers, he also weighs next to nothing and has yet to be tested by elite competition. Could make for a very unique piece ... could also be out of the league very quickly."

Zhou Qi for increased viewership. He could be China's next sensation.

We have been fortunate in the second round during the last two drafts (Clarkson, A. Brown).

Therefore I am confident that the FO will do their homework and select another decent player in this year's second round.

27 days to go!!!

Being son of an NBA star means nothing: Seth Curry, Austin Rivers, David Stockton, Tim Hardaway Jr, Glenn Robinson III, Glen Rice Jr, not to mention, well... Luke Walton.

Package #32, Lou, and Nick Young for a true center. That way you don't have to go into FA and overpay one of the three younger guys available. BB hasn't shown enough for a long enough time. Ez is too injury prone. Whiteside is a stat sheet stuffer, but doesn't have the analytic defensive impact that you'd want for those stats.

I wouldn't mind if the Lakers signed certain guys, but I frankly prefer the vet C options like Noah, Al Jefferson, and even Dwight (yes dwight) then the younger guys. I don't mind BB so much though, if they are really confident he is 23.

So would for example the Bucks consider Lou, Nick Young, and #32 for Greg Monroe? They are about to lose some SG depth in FA, and Monroe was a bench player for them in the home stretch.

Hope Damian Jones from Vanderbilt is available at the 32nd pick.

We need defense. Monroe is a terrible fit with Randle. He went to the bench in Milwaukee because he was a bad fit with J. Parker (neither great at spreading the floor and both below average defenders).

Take the BPA with the highest ceiling. Our goal next season is to achieve a modicum of respectability, so an immediate impact from a more mature, NBA-ready prospect isn't important.

I like the prospect that draftexpress has ranked at #32, Dejounte Murray.

I am another that likes D. Jones. But there should be 3-4 centers with potential still on the board. Depends on what the Lakers want from the center.

Seems many of us are hoping for multiple centers added. Hopefully the Sacre era is over. Solid bench center with a rep as a good teammate. But I would like to see more upside. I was disappointed that Upshaw could not fill this role.

Trading for a center could be another option. Still think a guy like Koufos is a solid player with a manageable contract. For those reasons I also think the Kings are not trading him.

I actually like the Monroe idea. IMO he would have a more positive impact then some consider. Can he improve his defense is the question. But as part of a rotation it would be an interesting option. I would not be willing to give up a key player though. Williams or Young or future 2nd and absorb his contract would be my preference.

Depth at every position is my preference for this rebuild. Then let Walton tweak the roster as we go along.

Thon Maker

AJ Hammonds

Diamond Stone - a draft gem

Then a bunch of 'Z's:

Zimmerman
Zhou Qi
Zubac
Zizic

All Centers

Mitch is pretty consistent in not picking someone on my radar, and making a great choice.

If, if, IF available, I think Stephen Zimmerman out of UNLV would be a good pickup. Big man with good length and decent pick and roll skills. A little light at only 234 lbs., but has the multiple skills needed for Luke's presumed motion/ triangle/ SSOL hybrid offense. Has been projected to go anwyhere from 20-40.

Can't trust anyone from UNLV after Anthony Bennett, though.

I'm surprised there's not many talking about Brogdon. He can come in right away and be a help. Good defender with good offensive skills. Kinda reminds me of a Raja Bell type role player
