Doesn't have to be a current Laker.
Doesn't have to be an all star Laker.

Just someone who wore Purple & Gold that you saw in public and weren't expecting it.

I saw Robert Sacre in DTLA grabbing a bite to eat at Grand Central Market.
He was with his family. And I didn't really want an autograph.

Norm Nixon jogs at Santa Monica College in the mornings. I've been chatting with him (once a year) for about 9 years.

This isn't really "out and about" but I would work in the Lakers training facility once a year as well. It was heaven. I still have a Lakers practice ball in my closet.

I saw Phil Jackson like five years ago walking around the Promenade with Jeanie. No one approached him though. I also was coached by Dave Miller from 7th to 8th grade. On a slightly off topic note, I also met Stevie Wonder in a bathroom in the Washington DC airport when I was in 7th grade and on that same trip, I met Rashard Lewis in a Virizon store.

Magic did an autograph signing at a Sears in a mall near my home like a decade back. Didn't get to actually meet him, since the line was super long. That's the closest I've ever been to a celebrity, let alone an NBA player.

I saw Julius Randle at the Beverly Wilshire buying jewelry with his girlfriend about a month after we drafted him (he was pretty stuck-up)

Unrelated but ran into just about everyone in the NBA at Berri's pizza on 3rd street on Friday/Saturday nights after 2 am during the summer time. A couple notable players:

-John Wall
-Chandler Parsons
-Austin Rivers
-Kyrie Irving
-Taj Gibson
-Courtney Lee
-David Lee
-Russell Westbrook
-James Harden

...So yeah, if you want to run into some NBA players this summer, you know where the after party will be

In the 80's many of the Laker players (also Pat Riley & Jerry Buss) and the visiting team used to frequent a nightclub I worked at in Beverly Hills. This went on for years on and off. The club was known for celebrities, very rich people, and insanely hot women.

I've seen Shaquille at the Century City mall a couple of times when he was with the Lakers just sitting alone outside, once with a very small baby.

I've seen other players, coaches and management many times at various restaurants, clubs, and events. Most of the young guys are out and about all the time.
