Smart move. Back to back Finals, banged up with injuries these playoffs. He's already won in FIBA, being prepared for the next season is more important than a gold medal, which he can just win in 2020. |

makes the USA NBA team decisions a little easier. If he stayed a very good guard would not have made a team due to the talent glut. |

Looking at the names left how would this team compare to the 2004 team? Theres an awfully lot of top tier talent that has pulled out of the 2016 Olympics. |

Wouldn't surprise me if Lebron drops out as well....he has a lot of wear and tear on his body and he already accomplished enough getting 2 golds. Makes no sense for him to play. |

Curry not playing makes a lot of sense and it's the right move but as a fan I find it really annoying. I was looking forward to seeing him play in the Olympics because he is such an exciting player to watch. I'm really disappointed. I'd much rather see our A team out there instead of our C team or worse. And yes I'm being selfish. |

It's the best decision for him. The team is stacked they don't need Curry to win. |

I don't blame anyone for opting out because of previous injuries, but I'm hearing a lot of people not wanting to go because of the Zika Virus. Seriously, there are a lot of wusses out there. Here are the symptoms:
Quote: | When present, symptoms are mild and last less than a week. They include fever, rash, joint pain, and red eyes.
|
That's it. No vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Basically just a nuisance for a few days, and this is IF you get it, in the first place. Hopefully, people stop overreacting about this. |

It's a little more complex than that. The symptoms of the Zika Virus are usually mild; however, it has been associated with a dramatic increase in Guillain-Barré syndrome, which can cause you to become paralyzed. While it's impossible to say how much of a risk, it is impossible in rare instances that the Zika Virus can lead to someone being unable to walk.
In addition, people can contract the disease, pass it on to sex partners, and it can cause birth defects. So if you were thinking about having kids over the next couple of years (the virus can lay dormant a long time), it could be a legitimate concern.
So I wouldn't dismiss the concerns over the virus as being silly. |

I doubt the virus affects Curry's decision, he makes offseason trips to impoverished countries every year. He donates 3 mosquito nets for each 3 pointer he makes. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Sorry, it is not just a nuisance. There are very valid concerns if you intend to have children.

No kidding.
Also who the (bleep) knows with long-term viral infections?
Do we have clinical data on long-term effects? |
