How often was Miller on the air last season (I streamed the games)? I thought it was a rotating chair between mostly Mumbles Jamison and Mumbles Horry. Miller will be missed.
Bres during the summer league coverage seemed very out of his depth. |
Yeah they rotated last season but Miller was honestly the only entertaining one. He's cheesy but clever and he knows his stuff. I didn't like bres at all and his chemistry with big game James was horrible IMO. |

Miller was a 1000x better. The crew they have on now is laughable, and "Bres" has no clue what he's talking about.

| They really screwed up wit Bresnahan. he just sin't a TV guy. No personality, kinda dull. I'm hoping he improves during the season. As long as Jamie is there I'll still watch. |

| If Metta isn't playing or coaching next season I'd love to see him in the studio as an analyst. Would be a lot better than Bres. |

Is it just me, or is Jamie horrible as the anchor? I think Chris does a better job of anchoring the show... smoother.
Let's see...
The Kam brothers suck.
Bres sucks.
Medina is OK.
Ding sucks.
Lee Jenkins is Ok.
Trudell rocks.
Worthy is living in the past. But he's Big Game so let him slide.
Horry got better.
Jamison is good. |

Miller's not my cup of tea at all - corny and has pretty general analysis and basically offered platitudes every night. I found him hard to watch.
Bres is less of an analyst and more of a reporter like Ding who they brought on full-time as a broadcaster. It's a slightly weird fit because as a reporter they're having him do analysis. But I way prefer his personality on TV and rep with the broadcast team to Coach. The show is more watchable for me, so I think I like him right now. Also I think he knows a fair amount about basketball, perhaps not from an analytical standpoint but he wrote some great articles on Lakers when he was with the Times (I think it was the Times). |

I think the TWC crew never really captured the chemistry that was lost when the Lakers were on Fox Sports Prime Ticket. |

Like when we beat the Celtics and he was running drills as they cut to the studio, and calling for "a piece of that Celtic @$$!" And it was a REGULAR season victory!

| Bres is kinda bland to me and just regurgitates a lot of the same points. At least Coach made it entertaining and mixed it up. |

Hell yeah. Bias or not with James, he just rocks. I rolled my eyes at him the past two seasons while he stuck up for his guy, but I'd be bummed if he wasn't around. |

Jack Haley was there during the early 2000's....
I was more referring to the job they were doing around the time of the Pau-Kobe Lakers. I thought they were doing an excellent job of integrating the fans into the broadcast. They lost that atmosphere once they went to the sterile TWC studios. |

Not sure there's a video.
But one of the funniest things I saw during this years summer league was after the game James said he was leaving and he started doing slide drills out the door. I was dying. |

I wish I could remember this better! I do remember that even the taped segments had more personality than TWC. Compare "Backstage Lakers" to "Life with Luke"!
Sterile is a good way to describe the TWC Lakers coverage unfortunately. |

Yeah Horry was terrible at first but he's improved. The only one on that list that I like consistently is Trudell...unlike the rest he really seems to put a lot of prep time into his analysis and he's more reactive to new information (that is to say, he doesn't have some hackneyed personae or perspective he falls back upon when he's out of his depth, e.g. Marcellus Wiley or James Worthy). He's also more comfortable in front of the camera than Bres.
Perhaps it will get better but as it stands, you can find better game analysis and breakdowns here on LG or on youtube produced by some of our own posters like GT. There's really no point to watching TWC's brand of boring lowbrow basketball analysis if you're a true Lakers fan. They need to add a heaping helping of intelligence and entertainment, and maybe I'll start watching them again. |
