Jason Terry as a second scoring option. Dwight Howard as muscle on the boards and a swat monster. Kenny Thomas as a hard-nosed rebounder and a guy who can convert a layup. Boris Diaw as a do everything player.

I hate to say, but if things are getting this bad, I wouldn't mind talented players that don't fit. When Phil is calling out players and officials like this, I'm a bit worried about a meltdown. Anyway, ideal role players is a good topic. I'll try to name role players and not stars, but Battier is ideal. Guess a guy that fits into that list is Odom. I mean if he weren't paid to be a star, and could just be a 3rd option he'd be in that role, but oh well. Duhon makes sense, as does Dunleavy, I just wonder which role players are available, and why on earth would they trade with the Lakers?

Raja Bell at PG (Defense and a little of everything else, height to appease Felipe)

Bruce Bowen at SF (Swingman Stopper to give Kobe a rest, best 3pt shot in the league)

The Matrix at PF (Second scorer and defender, can hit the outside J)

Dalembert at C (Defense, Anchor, Swatting)

Right now I want to do everything possible to get rid of scrubs like Puke, Sasha, Wafer, Green, McKie.....

We should trade Slava for Eric Williams as soon as today. Toronto wants an expiring K.

We should trade McKie to Phoenix for Jim Jackson

We should trade Gump + something to Indy for Croshere and Fred Jones.
Get some DEFENSE, some ATHLETICISM, some shooting.
Damn our scrubs can´t hit a pea in the ocean. WIDE open looks and all they do is CLANK

Kobe needs WARRIORS!! (Not the "Golden State" variety)

Players who HUSTLE.
Players who FIGHT.
Players who play with PASSION.
Players who play with INTENSITY.
Players who play with a sense of PURPOSE.

I love all the names you guys have already mentioned (Bell, Battier, Mike James, Nocioni)...

But here are some other WARRIORS I wish we had surrounding Kobe:
Najera
Fisher
Brevin Knight
Eric Williams
Aaron Williams
Boykins
Cardinal
Bonner
Deng
Harpring
Kaman
Buckner
Duhon
Kenny Thomas
Songaila
B-Jax
Etan Thomas
James Singleton
Malik Rose
Daniel Ewing
Skinner
Aaron Williams
Chuck Hayes
Ronny Turiaf!!!

What Kobe needs is a point guard, a shooter to stretch the defense, someone reliable for 15-18 a night, and can play some defense.

Ideally that could be one player, but it could be two. Get those needs filled and LA becomes a real threat.

And its always about the Lakers first, never Kobe.

Posey, Mike James.

For cheap:
Pollard could step in well. He knows how to pass in a motion offense, about average on D. Just can't play a lot of minutes.

This is something that is possible, so that's why I'm going with it. No superstars just a team of talented players at each position.

In 2007, Sign Milicic and Hinrich with the capspace money.

C Bynum
F Milicic
F Odom
G Kobe
G Hinrich

^
You have a young core around Bryant that has a lot of talent on both ends. While Milicic isn't looking like a good player in Detroit, I think he has all the talent needed to excel in the Triangle. Hinrich is just a perfect point/off guard combo that can play as a point or shooter next to Bryant and LO. With Hinrich on board we can see LO shift into more of a post up role. Andrew Bynum gives the team a legit back to the basket low post game as well as some shotblocking. Since he would be the apex and 2 years into the league, I would expect him to get atleast Chris Mihm touches. Only unlike Mihm, I feel Drew can be more effective inside and defensively.

No superstars around Kobe but he does have players that can bring different things to the table.

Right now the Lakers lack that kind of PG ability. That size and low post game at C. Also they don't have a good highpost player at 4 when Kwame starts there.

That 5 man core would be upgraded at 3 positions. Center. Powerforward. Point Guard.

And yet, none of them are superstars.

no, wolf... i understand your point of view, but milicic is a lost cause... he's another "potential", and i think that with odom and kwame we have enough "potential" players... milicic hasn't any passion for the game.. he's into cars and boats, he's the last to enter the gym and the first to go... i'm going with B_P, here: warriors, hustle, fight, passion...

Kwame's potential was based on size. Size is important but not to the Triangle offense. You need skills to excel in the Triangle offense.

Darko actually has some skills. I don't think he's going to be a monster by any means, but he would average double figures and block 1-2 per game as a starter in LA. That is an upgrade at PF.

I agree. We lack guys that when the tough gets going they dont get tough. Thats what kobe needs more than anything. Our team is full of potential from rooks to 7yr vets. We need guys willing to get their nose bloodied, and play through it.
