On Ireland's show Hamblen was asked if the Lakers had considered picking up some guys on 10 day contracts or making trades. Frank replied that they have some guys they have been looking at and Phil is in discussions with Mitch about how to get us some help. That doesn't mean that they will do anything, but at least they are aware that we are bare bones.

Why doesn't anyone mention McKie? Is he recovering or is he just going to do a Vlade and sit out the season while drawing a salary? Who knows, maybe he can take one of those scouting jobs that Vlade and Rudy got after failing at their own jobs.

McKie is collecting disability checks courtesy of the Lakers -- IMO, HE IS DONE!

C'mon guys...maybe it has finally occured to them that we might need more than the scrubs that continue to get PT can give us. 48 games....they gave it the good ole college try.

What about Fred Hoiberg? I know he had a heart issue but I think he's been cleared to play. Phil wrote in his last book that this guy would be perfect for the tri. If he can play I say we give him a shot. Seems to me he's just what we need - a hard nosed role player who can consistently hit from outside. Could be this team's Paxon or Kerr. He's gotta be an upgrade on McKie right? Thoughts?

Careful some homers will defend his acquisition with tooth and nail in this forum. I think if the Lakers don't want their money maybe they should give it to some charity instead. Still the logic befuddles me. They'd rather throw 5 mil out the window for two years instead of giving someone like AD an extra year or so simply to keep a dream like the 07 pipe going.

You mean we should have given up our future cap flexibility for a guard shooting 38% from the field and 18% from 3? That's Vujacic territory, and you want him for 5 years. Whatever makes it easier to blame Mitch.

Great idea, I wouldn't mind giving Hoiberg a look. See where he's at conditioning wise, and how his jumper looks. What I like about Hoiberg is he doesn't need much time to get hot. He can come in and just drain shots right away.

I would hope we're looking NOT at 10 day contract crap that isn't even going to be as good as what we have - which says a lot - but rather at a Ruben Patterson type of player who can be had for expiring Ks. At least we know Ruben is always aggressive in terms of trying to score, attacks the basket AND plays good defense.

i've been hyping Hoiberg up for a couple of weeks now...I'm glad to see that there are others out there that see how nice a fit he could be...

I've been told that his rights are still owned by the T'Wolves, so it would have to be a trade.

No offense, but another guy who can't play any defense, who had heart surgery and who hasn't played and NBA game in a year, is not the solution nor is it a good fit.

We need guys who can score AND defend. Otherwise, Hoiberg is just a worst version of Chucky Atkins, who was at least clutch and could handle the ball better than Fred - and we all saw how well that turned out and how much fans appreciated Chucky's "ole".

Hoiberg might be interesting. He does have triangle experience.
