Ruben might be a knuckle head, but he does play hard nosed ball, would be the 2nd best defensive player on the team (behind Kobe) and attacks the rim. I don't know what his contract situation is, but he would be a solid pickup. _________________ "Why do you think bad things happen, anyway???" "So we have something good to look forward to."

He has 1 year left on his deal, so his contract is in harmony with "the Plan". I like his toughness, too. We could use more toughness BIG TIME. |

I thought Hoiberg said his career was done and announced retirement. |

Absolutely. The side show that is Ruben Patterson alone should be enough to free Kobe up a little bit during the game. |

Retirement qualifies him for the Laker mid-level exception. |

I agree. I'd love to have Patterson on this team. He has talent and knows what to do on the court. He doesn't disappear when his shot isn't falling. Problem is PJ didn't like him when PJ signed up with the Lakers in 99 and had him shipped. Wasn't the best decision then and I doubt PJ has a palate for eating crow. |

That's funny. DFish keeping someone in front of him on defense. A little comic relief never hurt anyone. |

What are you talking about? Ruben has never had a problem with Kobe. The reason he was released was because he was so competitive going up against Kobe in practice, that Phil decided not to risk them hurting each other by going at it so intensely. Phil later said it was a mistake to release Patterson. |
