Whenever someone tells you it "isn't about the money", they're basically lying.

Durant isn't taking the vet min from anyone, he's got a family to feed.

I think he his best shot at the chip this year. They had the Warriors on the ropes 3-1 and blew it. When it came down to it, he couldn't seal the deal.

It's actually a bit ambiguous, but then so is the word, "spotlight".

Every free agent says it isn't about the money, but then they either sign for max or near-max. They've been instructed by their agents to eat with their mouths closed.

The second possible interpretation means that Durant isn't interested in going somewhere that might shower him with endorsement deals, which is one of the allures of Los Angeles. Does that really mean anything either? No.

I read the article, and it sounds more like he is referring to off court $$ that comes from endorsements, especially when he notes how well he has done even being in OKC. I will be very surprised to see him turn down a full max (dollars, not years), especially considering a great team is out there willing to give him one (plus his own great team that can pay him the most).

Derozan in his exit interview sound like a player that was staying. Durant sounds like he's leaving OKC.

Why? He has nothing to gain by staying. He has the scoring titles, the MVP, and led a team to the finals. He's playing for his legacy. Does he want to be remembered like KG in Minnesota or Dirk in Dallas? Or like Shaq in LA? He had arguably the best season of his career last year. It was overshadowed by GSW and Kobe's retirement. Just shows how meaningless the Durant "6th most popular athlete in the world" polls ESPN publishes are... He's not the icon they say he is, but he could be in LA.

Stays in OKC for 1 year.
Leaves with WB next year. Unless OKC wins a chip in the meantime.

I was hoping for a Lebron/Durant team up. But since GS lost in the Finals. I don't think it'll happen now.

Yup ..... people keep playing the extra 1 year max money.

What does KD want? Does he want to be a LEGEND? Or Does he want the extra $50-60M in a max deal?

There are very few people that would leave 50 - 60m dollars on the table.

Even if you already have a billion dollars... 50-60m is still a massive 5 - 6 pct of that.

It's such an insane amount of money only someone who is so enlightened about life would turn down such money (Chappelle).

Even Buddha wouldn't turn down 50-60m.

And get rid of that Adam Lavine wearing a Durant Lakers jersey picture.

Russ and KD are pals. They are a 1-2 punch and KD even called Mark Cuban an "idiot" for saying the Westbrook is not a superstar. I doubt they will leave each other.

Kevin Durant was mad at Stephen A. Smith once because he said that it was a "possibility" that he could go to our Lakers.

It's quite likely he will sign a 4-year $60 million contact. He's not leaving.

KD's inner circle is 3 people, him, his dad and a friend, and they never leak anything. What KD was angry at was SAS suggesting he had a source.

With KD, there is no sources, ever.

Chances are pretty strong that if he leaves OKC he's going to another serious contender, the only two that fit that bill in the West are San Antonio and GSW. If he joins GSW, just hand them the trophy next year.
