I think when it comes to ceiling fans overvalue physical attributes and undervalue actual skills. Sure you can develop skills, but Ingram will never be the shooter than Durant is. Elite skills are nearly impossible to develop this late in the game.

Even Kawhi Leonard with all his improvement is not a dominant offensive player that you trust creating his own offense when it counts. His ball-handling is solid but still not great. He also is average at creating for others.

Ingram has a long way to go from a skills standpoint. The ball-handling is there for the most part. The biggest question mark is the elite shooting. I'm not sure he ever gets there. If he does, he would be the exception to the rule.

Kawhi creates his own offense on a regular basis. So I'm not so sure about your theory. =)

He also demonstrated a great deal of skill on the high post. So I wouldn't agree with him having a long way to go from a skills standpoint. I suppose this is all subjective though.

Just seems obvious to me that the kid is special. Front office thinks so as well. Even his teammates said he was the best player on the squad.

His ceiling is a hybrid of Giannis/PG13 in my opinion.

The idea of him being a bust is beyond laughable.

Who said bust?

If he turns into Iguodala or the equivalent, he wouldn't be a bust.

2. The Pacers did talk to the Los Angeles Lakers about a package starting with Brandon Ingram, but the 19-year-old forward is exactly the kind of athletic player Magic Johnson wants on his team. He averaged 9.4 points and 4.0 rebounds as a rookie last season.

safe to say that Ingram isn't being traded

Neither is Lonzo after that press conference on Friday.

is it really that hard for this dude to put on even a little bit of muscle, I mean no one is expecting him to get jacked but he looks skinnier then the end of the season lol

Effortless. His shot is so smooth. BI and Lonzo will be great together for a long time. Can't wait to see them grow together as players.

adding muscle gives you mass... muscle mass is what we need from Ingram which requires putting on muscle.

not sure what your point is

maybe he meant size vs. strength, which the latter ingram did not lack as much.

A lot of people like to compare DLOs rookie year to BIs. BI was also 6 months younger than DLO, so BI was the same age as DLO around March when DLO started his rookie year. BI started to get better and better in Feb, March, April.

ha I need a different angle. Looks smooth though. Think he's always had a solid turnaround J - but that looks as good as it gets for practice. Makes you think about his ceiling as a 'shot maker' - I'll say it again, in some universe he could be the next Derozen offensively. Long way to get there though as a shot maker

I thought some of his turnarounds looked really wonky and awkward last season. IMO. These look way more fluid. But something looked a tiny bit off which is why I summoned you, lol, but it might just be the angle.

I don't really like analyzing practice, non game speed shots. They're always different, always smoother, always money. ya know, lol

I think a player's jump is the biggest factor in that discrepancy. Usually just height of jump, but w/ Randle it's also the amount of turn, that's different.. Practicing 'game speed' is a fundamental, a bit of a fallacy - but at least be aware of how it's impacting your shot!!!

I kid, I kid... I still have high hopes for Ingram. It would be sad if turns out to be a bust, that would be two wasted #2s. But lets see what Lonzo could do with him.

I agree with him though

I guess the skepticism some of you have expressed is warranted given his lack luster start. I don't see bust at all though, nor do I even see it as a possibility. Nor do I believe his success is predicated on what another player can generate for him. Only thing going to put the doubts to rest is another season of growth.

I believe using stats as a tool to assess or project for a one year player with an underdeveloped frame is wrong. They're almost meaningless in my opinion. But that's just how I see it. Well, most of the league see's it that way as well. Russell was made available, who many would argue has better advanced stats than Porky.. League didn't care much, nor were they all that interested. Opposite reaction with Porks.
I wasn't saying that I agree that Ingram could bust. I meant that I expect Lonzo to make Ingram a significantly better player.

I just got a gut feeling Ingram is gonna have a big year .. he got comfortable after All star break . Started to play his game .. even on that turn around you can see it's more refine compared to last year he looks even more fluid and natural at it so you can tell he is putting the work in ..

No. Not an optimal 2 guard. First, not a great 3 point shooter, can't operate of screens, etc. He's a true SF right now. He can defend some SGs but offensively, optimal at SF.
