I see the improvement he made as well. However, I don't think even the second half of last season will be a reflection of who he will become. I really don't take much in terms of stats or statistical analysis from his rookie season. To be an Ingram fan, you really can't.

The most important statistical analysis we can make of his rookie season is about how he kept getting better.

One can argue it was a consequence of a poor start, but it is unusual for any young player to have his raw number increasing alongside better advanced stats, it is a very good signal IMHO.

So he didn't remain one of the worst players in the league using advanced stats. Give him credit for improvements and not remaining that bad all season, but it means nothing for this season. I agree with LS, don't worry about how Ingram or any other young player will develop until after 3 years in the league. Some developed nicely and some remained stagnant while others declined. Interesting that in some threads a player will certainly improve while in others the players player wont.

Ingram's end of the season surge had to do with him first gaining confidence and familiarity with going off one foot. Then going off one foot in traffic.

Once he got those two things down, it was about understanding his length and gaining confidence in it.

In addition to that, it was the confidence to have enough faith in his jump shot to start pulling from mid off the dribble hesitation.

Once he got all those things down, and came to the realization that no one could stop him once he got to the basket, he started taking off.

If the tweaks work, it could be huge for the sophomore forward’s game.

most important part imo

"Ingram has done more than that, though. According to his latest blog for BiPro USA, a protein supplement endorsed by Ingram and Larry Nance, Jr., “Ingram kicked off his summer by tweaking the form of his jump shot. He’s put an added emphasis on keeping his elbow in and his shot has a different release point.”

He says it’s helped him get better results.

Wondering how that made KiRoE feel after reading that

Nice article reviewing Ingram's year and upcoming season. They predicted the following stats for 2017-18:

Quote:
2016-17: 28.8 MPG, 9.4 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 2.1 APG, 2.7 FTA, 40.2% FG, 29.4% 3FG

2017-18 Projected: 31.5 MPG, 14.2 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 2.5 APG, 3.9 FTA, 44.5% FG, 33.8% 3FG

I think the projection is pretty fair, and Ingram shooting around 34% from 3s would be amazing for next season.

Just speculation, but I think Kobe is too busy to train players because he's busy with his non-basketball passions and hobbies.

I'm sure Kobe is open to players calling him up and having him answer questions or even go over game tape but I don't think he's down to train players in the gym... yet.

Just speculation, but I believe he has already spent some time with Mamba.

The way he was attacking out of triple thread position, keeping the ball with himself longer, relentless attacking the basket in summer league and video footage ... there is a lot of Mamba in all those things

I remember in an interview BI said that he wasn't going to tell anyone when he does meet with Kobe, so it's possible that it already happened.

The assist average seems low. If I could bet the over. I would.

Right?? George can easily move to the two.

Yup.

Position-less basketball

People get so caught up in who plays where.

That is because they still have to guard players on the other team.

Name me a 2 guard PG13 can't capably defend or a PF who will give Lebron problems and maybe I'll see where you're coming from.

Remember when Droz was swallowed up by pg13 in the playoffs two years ago? Droz is a "SG."

Pg13 unlike Ingram can play SG bc he is adept off screens, catch and shoot, and has a good handle and creating abilities.

Demarcous Cousins

Fortunate there arent many SGs these days like RayRay or Reggie who are constantly running off screens, so PG13 wont have to waste energy chasing on defense.

Thanks to his shooting woes, Brandon Ingram's rookie season bordered on disastrous, even if the weakness of the 2016 class still allowed him to make All-Rookie Second Team. He knocked down only 40.2 percent of his shots during live action, connected on just 29.4 percent of his looks worth three points and struggled at the foul stripe to the tune of a 62.1 percent clip.

According to NBA Math's offensive points added, only two players were less valuable on the scoring end: Domantas Sabonis and Bismack Biyombo.

But a few factors indicate Ingram was just learning on the job and should still be considered a future star, none of which are more important than his roster situation.

Of course this small forward was going to struggle as a teenager when surrounded by a complete dearth of established offensive talent. Defenses could already key in against him because they didn't have to pay much attention to Luol Deng, Timofey Mozgov, Nick Young or D'Angelo Russell, with whom he shared the court most frequently. Sure, they had to worry about spot-up jumpers from the notorious Swaggy P, but they still weren't dragged away from sending help defense in Ingram's direction.

That changes now that Lonzo Ball, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Brook Lopez are playing in Tinseltown. Further growth from Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. will assist the former Duke Blue Devil's development as well.

Secondly, Ingram improved throughout the year. After the All-Star break, he averaged a more respectable 13.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while hitting 47.5 percent of his field-goal attempts. His tweaked jumper should continue to pay major dividends when he's granted more space, and that will happen soon as the Lake Show climbs back toward respectability.

I'm hoping he can grow to play the PF more in a year or two.

PF? Those are center dimensions. I wonder how much his wingspan has increased too.
