yeah, Kobe was a rare bird; old school in alot of ways. These new players, whether its Basketball or Football, will sit out alot of injuries, some relatively minor that alot of older generational players would play through. tough, is becoming an old school, quaint, outdated concept in so many ways, not only in sports either.

Kobe winning an Oscar!

Nate getting owned on both twitter and LG! (which I MISSED cuz I was watching the Oscars!! )

Ingram thread at 1000 pages!

It's been a fun read coming back from an Oscar party to this thread!

Still wish we had some information on the MRI though.

I'd love to see him back near full strength against Portland. Probably too soon, we'll see.

Hater!

You have to disregard analytics with a physically undeveloped late bloomer with BI’s work ethic. What we’re seeing now is just the tip of the iceberg.

He’ll hit 20k next year.

Kobe missed a lot of time when he was younger. It wasn't until he was old enough and respected enough to tell the staff know about setting that he was allowed to really show his toughness. Ingram strikes me as the type who wants to play. He just doesn't yet have the clout to tell the staff and Magic no to resting

BOth Ingram and Lonzo have played a lot of games banged up this year, though. Zo began with his ankle and admitted he wasn't 100% and didn't look right for a couple weeks playing on it. Ingram had quad tendinitis in November and only missed one game when he injured his other quad as well. And he played on an ankle, and a groin.. and it was all noticeably hampering.for both players.. that's one of the details I watch for, I don't really look at plays and stuff. And they've been on injury reports

This is a false narrative.

First of all, I'll admit a lot of the "old school" talk is macho hooey that especially in football has proven to be sheer ignorance... but my father raised me to think like that... I'm probably from the last generation to still think that way (I'm in my fifties) but players like Kobe and MJ are a dying breed. Kobe I agree would have been much better served listening to his trainers and maybe would have been effective five years longer if he didn't play through his injuries.

I watch every game religiously including summer league... I saw each time they got hurt... and I have no doubt they were in pain as soon as it happened. I've seen Ingram especially get hammered going inside, come back bloodied and still keep playing, taking his skinny body over and over into players twice his size. I see Ball ferociously challenge people no matter how big... and I'll admit that I'm glad to see him playing at full strength instead of hobbling around like many older players might who came back too early.

But I don't think I'm wrong that players these days tend to be way more cautious than older generations. All I can say is that when we get an injury report that says questionable... so far they've not surprised me by playing.

The last one who has was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who came back quickly from knee surgery in English soccer... and then he had to go back on the injured list because he wasn't ready. But Zlatan in my mind, is old school like MJ and Kobe.
