Here's a question - if Ingram makes a leap from this year to next as comparatively significant as the leap Randle made from last year to this one, what does Ingram look like next year?

Second question, who made a bigger leap this year... Ingram or Randle?

To the first question: I project him as a perennial All-Star if there’s steady improvement as the years go by. But if he were to make a similar leap to Randle’s this year he’d look like a potential superstar.

Second question: I would say Randle since his improvement was so dramatic across the board on both ends.

These normal %s are on NBA.com, can date search

The attempts are def low. Wouldn't be a surprise to see his percentage drop to like 34%, even 32% next season. But at least that seems like a floor and a pessimistic projection. 36-37% on decent volume seems possible as soon as next year.

Randle. By a hair. The consistency being the primary factor.

Love the first question. If Ingram makes a comparable leap as Randle did this year, he'll be an efficient scorer because of his ability to drive, and he will all be a formidable defensive presence because of his length and intelligence.

I realize speaking about offense is where most of the focus is, but it's defense I'm really looking forward to next year because I'm envisioning BI and Ball getting after opponents defensively.

And if Randle (whom I definitely believe made the bigger leap over BI to answer the second question) is here, and I hope like heck he is, I'm expecting another jump defensively. I could be mistaken, and I'm too lazy to look it up, but I believe we jumped from last, or bottom defensively, to about 12th defensively.

I'd like to see us make top five in that category next year.

If Ingram makes a Randle like jump next year, he's an all-star IMO (especially if we win 50+ games).

I think Ingram had a bigger leap forward this year than Julius did, FWIW.

Given those numbers, it's not crazy to assume that we should try to play Ingram at the 1/2 combo and move Kuzma to the starting 3, and have Ingram and Lonzo as the 1/2 and trade ball handling/point guard responsibilities

Lonzo Ball
Brandon Ingram
Kyle Kuzma
Julius Randle
Center

Bench:
Isaiah Thomas
Josh Hart
Someone / Draft Pick
Travis Wear
Ivica Zubac / Thomas Bryant

BI at the 1. Lonzo at the 2. Sexy.
Someone at the 3.
Kuz at 4.
Someone at the 5 sounds better.

My wish is that BI can somehow become money at the line. That simple thing would take him to another level.

I agree. You can make the case that BI added more elements to his game.

Ingram should be on the do not trade list. He will be a perenial allstar. He improves every game and strives to get better.

PG at the 3 in that lineup and a cheap bouncy rim protector at the 5 and then we're looking deadly.

Randle, Kuzma, Ingram, Hart, Ball, we’re one star away from a playoff team, maybe second rounder.

Would like to see Ingram shooting 80% on his free throws next year. As much as he drives and gets contact, need to make those shots from the charity stripe.

If Brogdan can aim for the 75% mark at the FT line next season, that would be steady progress for a third year player. I think if he maxes out at 80% in the proceeding seasons, that would as good as it gets.

That being said, his primary focus should be on injury prevention, and the rest will take care of itself. IMO, Luke was on point about BI evolving as a player before the injuries hit him. This is where the training staff and nutritionists will be worth their weight in gold. There is plenty of data out there supporting diets that favor the microbiome (probiotics and prebiotics).

I haven’t seen anything mentioning it. I hope he does, but with things like that, it’s always possible for it to happen without us being aware of it until much later.

I'm sure they all are..regular people who like basketball don't go 3 weeks without getting the itch again... I'm sure these dudes who strive to be legends want to go work at that goal, on top of the pure love of the game
