Quote: | No. 6: Brandon Ingram, Lakers
Now, it’s time to start making some leaps of faith. Already? Yes, already.
Consider: Of the 24 American All-Stars in 2016, 17 have Olympic experience and four more were listed above in this exercise. That leaves only Aldridge (his Olympic window has seemingly shut), Paul Millsap (he will be 35 in 2020), and Isaiah Thomas (a talented player who would definitely put on a show, but one who lands a little further down the point guard pecking order). In other words, it’s time to shift gears from proven stars to potential ones.
Durant summed up Ingram’s future better than just about anyone else when he told reporters in Las Vegas that he viewed the 2016 No. 2 overall pick as being “a little [further] along” and “a little more fluid” than Durant was at the same age. While Ingram, 18, will only be 22 in 2020, it’s worth remembering that Durant was just 23 when he won gold in London.
The “Next Durant” comparisons might very well turn out to be both a blessing and a curse as Ingram continues to develop, but even if Ingram falls short of MVP-level play he would make a lot of sense for USAB. He’s long and athletic. He’s comfortable with the ball in his hands, he’s accustomed to facing up, and he should be capable of shooting the international three. And, perhaps most importantly, he’s capable of playing multiple positions depending on the size of the lineup around him. Given his variety of skills, it wouldn’t be all that shocking if Ingram made the cut for USA’s 2019 World Cup roster.

Bond and team chemistry in the summer goes a long way to a team's success.
Just ask Portland... They all were doing stuff together and in the end result was they overachieved as a team cause they had a bunch of players caring for each other. |

There was a post many pages back, too many for me to find. It's basically said Ingram hadn't been signed because the Lakers were possibly looking at someone that was currently playing in the Olympics. At the time I thought maybe it was a trade for someone on Team USA.
Whoever posted that a couple weeks ago...spot on. Totally nailed it. |

1st guess:
Were they interested in Lebron /Westbrook, and then when it didn't happen, they didn't want to show the world what they were thinking, so the delay to sign Ingram continues a little longer?
2nd guess:
Is there an athlete they're interested in playing for another country in the Olympics? If this goes on more than another 2 weeks or a month it's going to be really wierd. | |

He's listed at 6'9.5 on DX.
That looks about right to me |

I can't believe we got Ingram still.
In a few years, will be an all-NBA defender who can drop 22-23 ppg on you, while guarding 3-4 positions and being a Swiss Army knife on both sides of the ball. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

That one is probably going to be asked for the next 20 years or so. |
Indeed, the man left quite a mark on this franchise.
I hope these young guys learn from the man and add to their game.
Hoping Kobe lends his insight to these young guys, just like he learned from the guys around him. _________________ Lakers win record when Kobe goes for 40+ points

Hope he'd actually be dropping closer to 30ppg. Kobe has dropped over 35ppg and defended like crazy. I know he isn't Kobe but the production is needed. _________________

What puzzles me is this ....
Ingram is supposed the next surefire superstar. But he is objectively rated half a tier below Simmons. Yet 2016 is deemed to be a weaker draft than both 2015 (KAT, Porzingod, Russ, Booker and Turner) and 2017 (Fultz, Jackson, Giles and Tatum) in term of superstar talent.
How do they add up. |

Umm. No one had porky/Booker/turner as sure fire stars this time last year. These draft class projections are just that. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

2015 was loaded. It will yield superstars level guys/names (Towns, Russ, Booker, KP), sporatic all stars (Turner, Okafor, Mudiay, Jokic) all world defenders (RHJ, Winslow, Johnson, WCS), super role plays (Nance, Lyles, Portis, Christmas)
I think that will prove to be quite the special draft-- every bit on the same level as 96 and 04.
2016 will have some superstars (Simmons) and some studs: Dunn, Ingram and then some steals too (Zubac, McCaw, etc.) but I think overall it's going to be somewhat underwhelming.
2014 the jury is still out on-- all the top prospects have missed significant time except for Wiggins: Embiid, Randle, Parker, Exum, Gordon. We'll see how that plays out... |
