In all these years moving away from solid centers to mobile "under-sized" guys, there's still nothing more magical than the mystique of the elusive 7-footer!

Whenever you see an undersized guard who is shorter than 6 feet, why is the comparison always Isaiah Thomas, when Thomas is an anomaly? What about all the other guys that are less than six feet who didn't make the league, because they weren't tall enough so their skills as basketball players weren't able to compensate for the height differential? Whenever you are shorter than six feet, you have to compensate for something, with Robinson being elite athleticism, Boykins quickness, and Thomas overall basketball skill.

According to Draft Express, he has a very friendly NBA buyout in is Euro contract.

This kid will be the perfect back up center for Whiteside or Horford or Biyombo. Hopefully this means goodbye to the worst NBA player Sacre

Lakers see Ivica Zubac as a 'lottery talent,' Kupchak reportedly compares him to Marc Gasol
Quote:
Zubac pick deserves a chance, because while it's unlikely he'll ever be as good as Gasol, he could still easily end up as a capable role player in the Lakers' rebuild. That's great value for the 32nd overall pick,

In terms of upside I'm seeing more Brook Lopez than Marc Gasol. Marc was MVP of the ABC league by the time he was 23 and had a really strong all around game. He was just overweight. Once he got to the NBA and slimmed down his game took off on both ends of the floor.

On the other hand Zubac has the same kind of size advantage at the Center spot Brook has. If he can develop the type of touch Brook has on his shot I could see that upside.

Watch this thread not matter in a number of years because we passed on Felder who is WAY BETTER than Zubac.

And out come the greenseers.

It's funny to see people get so attached to their pet player every year. I like the use of all caps to really drive home the point.

Is Tarik Black (assuming we bring him back) higher on the depth chart than Zubat?

Well behind our FA center and Randle/ Nance small ball, I don't expect there to be that much time for the next center in the depth chart. Maybe 8-10 minutes?

And as the season progresses, I don't see why he shouldn't be able to play a few spot minutes here and there.

yea i think the last 20 games he should get some spot minutes. but before that - having to learn and get his body right, only garbage time minutes

I think we should play him 20 mpg. Since we're not competing for the title next season, why not let the kid get as much experience as possible? Same with Ingram.

If he's the next Marc Gasol, then I expect his trade value will garner us an All-Star PF somewhere down the line.

Does he have a brother in the league?

Felder would be redundant with Lou here. We needed to improve our front court and we did that.

Could have traded Lou. Felder is a way better facilitator than Lue. Also more athletic. You get the guy who is going to be something in this league. Even if you double down on a position. It's rare a talent like this goes so under the radar. I understand the need for Zubac's value in that position. I really hope he will be good, but to me he is injury prone and a guy who won't even be with us 4/5 years from now. I hope I'm wrong. But it won't be soon before people are saying, "Who is this Kay Felder guy, and why didn't my team draft him?"

why so bitter man?
also, i'm gonna side with Mitch's projection of who we drafted vs who you think we should have drafted.
regarding the bolded, it probably won't be soon indeed.

One of the most underrated aspects of this team is our length.
DLO, Brown, Nance, Zubac and Ingram all have amazing length and wingspans at their positions.

Hopefully, we continue in FA with Whiteside and others

Turning into the Thunder with that length.

Because the FO wants to be in the playoffs. Luke wants to use Randle at center as well.

Except him to get minimal minutes as he gets adjusted to the NBA game. Still expect the Lakers to sign a vet center.

It looks like he needs to get over here ASAP to start working full time with our strength coaches. Until he gets into better shape and a lot stronger nothing else will matter. I think it will be years before we really know what we have with him, but I love that he loves the Lakers and really wants to be here.
