It's funny, I was watching part of the LA/POR game seven replay and saw a bunch of times where the Blazer ball handler blew by LA's PnR defense only to run into their own PF and his defender. In retrospect it seems so obvious that you want that guy out of the way to open the driving lane. They were giving up lay ups to have Brian Grant in offensive rebounding position _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.

KAT defensive stats such as % defending the rim, opposing players FG% while defending etc was very similar to Okafor's last season. Hard to believe.
By the numbers Okafor is not a bad man defender, he just can't provide help defense.
Big Zu has some shot blocking presence as weak side shot blocker, he should struggle mainly on the PnR.
But PnR defender, defending in space is where teams pick apart guys like Oak (and even Moz, Zub are victims of that).
Oak is just from a throwback era where such weaknesses weren't so relentlessly exploited.
I'm happy we drafted DLO. He was the right choice.
But I haven't written off Oak yet. He's only 20. It's too soon to say his P&R defense can't improve to a league average level _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
I wanted Okafor too over DLo at draft time. But I bought in quickly after the pick. I'm still a Okafor fan but I don't see him ever becoming an average PnR defender. Time will tell. With that said, I believe he will the most skilled big in the post in the NBA. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Okafor may end up playing PF from here on outfit hey decide to keep both oak and embiid.
He better develop a jumper. Only shot 26% on shots outside of 16 feet (the same % as Randle ironically). It was good to see his FT% up around 70% after struggles in college
But I agree, if they keep everyone it looks like they will go with Simmons at the 3 alot and Okafor or Noel at the 4. Horrible spacing. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. They have Noel to play the 4. As well as Saric, and Bender.
they also have Simmons and Grant
what a cluster F.
I like Saric, a lot. I would move Okafor and Noel and get wing/guard pieces. If they got the right pieces in exchange, they would be quite the roster in a couple years.... though I still think they should have taken Ingram and traded for Dunn.

They would be much better.
The thought process on sixer forums seems to be that Noel is the odd man out in philly. It seems like fans are ready to move on and think that Noel will be moved before the season starts.

Some Zubac clips I stumbled on while goofing off on Youtube.
They're 3 months old, but considering their low play count. I'm guessing alot of people haven't seen them

Nik Slavica's block on Tatum's breakaway. it would be nice if Slavica is next Lakers second round steal. he's an athletic sf/sg
As a child who grew up wearing the jerseys of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Metta World Peace, Ivica Zubac dreamed of someday translating his upbringing in Croatia to a career in the NBA.
As evidenced by his purple and gold wardrobe, Zubac was a huge Lakers fan, but the thought of not only making the NBA — but also getting to join his lifelong favorite team — was too much of a fantasy to add to that vision of the future.
Yet on Monday, donning a grey “Los Angeles Basketball” shirt, the 19-year-old stepped off the Lakers’ practice court in El Segundo as part of the budding nucleus of the Lakers.
He still can’t imagine telling his younger self about the moment two months ago when Los Angeles made him the 32nd pick of the 2016 NBA Draft.

“‘No way. What are you talking about?’ That’s what I’d say,” Zubac said. “It was always my dream to play in the NBA, especially for the Lakers because they’re the greatest franchise ever. I always was a fan of the Lakers.
Someone has to talk to Zubac about that. Last thing you want to do is rotate late in the nba and get caught too deep in the paint. He'll also have to introduce a few players to the floor before they stop trying to posterize him every time. Hopefully someone pulls him to the side sooner than later. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest
Awww sounds like Zubac is not even in the latest NBA 2k game after he asked for his rating in the game. Which probably means when they do eventually add him with a roster update he will look like a generic created player.
Zubac gives me echoes of Vlade when he first came here...just the exuberance.
minus the cigarette!
Ha. True that. I really loved Vlade when he joined the Lakers. Just the exuberance and Magic loved the kid too. Young bucks today probably didn't know how nice it was to have Vlade Divac on the teams after Kareem retired. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Vlade was a good player. I just don't know why, but I think Zubs will have a better career here.
