CBS Sports had Zubac at #15 on their board. DraftExpress, #16. ESPN, #25.
Great value pick. Mitch may have done it again.
The Lakers, per Brian Shaw, had him at #16. It was a great pick up. On another note, every time he was guarding Al Jefferson, even very early in the game, my thoughts kept screaming "he's about to get schooled, mainly because of the lack of experience.
Al Jefferson is a crafty son of a gun, and playing against him, as well as extensive film sessions, is the only way to prepare. It was a great experience for our kid.

Draft Express had Zubac on #27: LINK _________________ ....
Depending on the Lakers record after the all-star break I'd love to see him get more burn.
Bigs usually take a bit longer to develop so it's exciting to think that the current core will probably have already hit their "stride" in terms of taking their game to the next level just as Zubac is about to start hitting his.

I think we are seeing the opposite more recently. Look at the last 2-3 years worth of guards drafted. Much slower pace then a lot of the big men who seem to come right in and make an impact. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

I agree.. but I guess I shouldve said "project bigs" although I guess you can say that regarding any position in which the player is sort of "raw" and a "project" lol.
Porzingis, Towns, Turner, or Embiid are all top 10 picks that were already good coming out of the draft.
He does have a good feel for the game though considering his age.. perhaps he's on the same trajectory in terms of development as the other young guns.

I wonder where Lakers had Jokic in 2014 draft. Wish we had a 2nd round pick that year and stole Jokic along with JC. Anyways, hopefully Zu will turnout to be that level of player for us. _________________ Showtime 2.0
Zubac got the ball more in the DLeague _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though."
Zu also looked lost a couple plays. Didn't know/hear the play call _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though."

there were play calls in this game??? i really couldn't tell the way Lakers played.
i was watching the game on a stream of some Romanian sports channel...and they just switched to Handball World Championship game mid 3rd quarter (not a stream glitch, actual sports channel changed it's programming), they thought it wasn't worth showing this game anymore...

Hard to believe lol. But I saw him go up to Marcelo and tell him he couldn't hear the play call once. A couple other times he had his hands up like he didn't know what to do. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Thing is like I said a few days ago, did anyone notice his body has changed significantly? That and his athleticism is starting to come around, he's not as flat off the floor as he had been in summer league and early in the season and seems to be getting a little more bounce and quickness in his ups.

Lakers probably have him doing explosiveness exercises which he didn't do in Europe

Zu had a pretty big dunk in summer league that I didn't know he had in him - but I think he's having them with more regularity
this is a pretty huge dunk vs. Denver, and he didn't need a large run-up , I'd bet that's improvement.
I even saw athletic improvement in Sacre and Ryan Kelly. And Dlo looked great this summer athletically. Jabari Parker's a freak athlete now..
I believe in it!
Not a perfect game, but showing some real potential.

12/10/2/3 blocks, 4 TO, 5-15 shooting (which doesn't really tell the whole story he had a possession where he battled 4 straight put backs), led the team in +/- with +13.
Is Zubac our best screen setter? I'm dead serious. _________________ Austin Reaves

Good game tonight, whenever he goes against a team without a quality low post scorer he looks good. Soon he will look good against those quality low post scorers. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
He's doing 3-4 SUPPPPPER encouraging things. 1) creating the space to get the ball on rolls, with a great screen.
2) He's blocking and altering a lot of shots
3)he's making some nice passes.
There's a chance that we could have a future starting lineup of 5 players who are great passers at their positions. (If we draft a PG this year) That's crazy.

One of the reasons why he got so many open shots. Of course, he can't finish...
