I was pretty disappointed in Zu this season. Last season he looked like a young guy with good offensive attributes who needed to work on his body and his aggressiveness. He came into camp weak for some reason, although he had lost weight the just looked out of sorts and had very little energy. He looked better towards the end of the season, but I donít think made any progress this season. Statistically he was basically the same player, his 2pt shooting was down, hit FT shooting up...otherwise just about the same down the line.

I would not be Surprised if we declined his option and focused our attention on getting a young C with Clevelandís pick, I like Jontay Porter a lot. Maybe see if there is a different project that we can work on that has more of a nose for defense and is more athletic.

I think we keep Zu, mainly because he is cheap and has zero trade value at this time.

He plays too straight up and down. When he has the ball in his hands, he doesnít create any space, defenders crowd him and he isnít able to make a move.

He has to have a Julius type of offseason where he has a total transformation of his body. He said himself he didnít work as hard as he should have, and it showed.

Other than his ability to roll to the basket, he doesnít provide much of anything else.

Gotta show us something Zu, or else youíre gonna be a journeyman for the next 5 years before heading back to Europe.

I think unless they go bare bones to sign LBJ, it doesn't make much sense to cut him. He's on a dirt cheap deal and may be the backup center depending on how they use Bryant.

The kid just turned 21 two months ago, his body's still got some growing to do.

I'm hoping he works with Amoila and comes into next season with his body looking like a prime Pekovic http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DxV9HmoAmfI/UrDBPJSrcWI/AAAAAAAAAwI/iLjLULX6nno/s1600/10Wolf1213.galjpg.jpg

I'm confident he will be much improved physically this upcoming season. Not sure why he has very little support here. Young bigs take longer to develop. JR essentially had 2 full seasons with ample playing time before the light went on, improved his cardio and body resulting in the season he just had and changed many LG members perception of him.

Zubac is very skilled in the post with touch on his shots with both hands. His mid-range is very good and from what I have seen of his 3 pt shot (g-league) he should be at least NBA average.

He rebounds, is physical and provides adequate rim protection.

Needs to improve his defensive awareness and lateral movement.

I know post play is frowned upon in this NBA but I wonder if the Celtics and Rockets would have fared better if they had an inside presence when their 3 ball is not falling. Lebron essentially scores a lot of his points in the post using bully ball to get high percentage shots within 15 feet.

I believe in the the great Zu. He and Big Mamba are the future. They play above their paygrade, and add pro depth to our team.

Yeah idk what lakers training staff are doing with zu. He seemed like a beast on the low post his first season and then he lost a bunch of weight last season and looked horrible. It was like he lost muscle or something because he didnít have the strength the bang down low anymore. Now heís lost even more weight....was the guy all fat or something? I feel like they broke zubac 😕

When is he going to start lifting weights and gaining muscle? They know heís a lowpost center, right?

Pretty low chance he is with us next season. High probability his option is just straight out declined or itís excercised and heís sent out as part of a trade. Magic TOLD the guys to get in better shape last season started, he didnít. His game hasnít progressed, didnít take their advice and isnít a deep threat...heís gone.

That simply isnít true. He got his body fat down to 7% and it became his nickname during training camp. However, I do agree with you that he didnít show enough progress (if any) this season, which makes the odds of him coming back rather minuscule, at best. His regression last year was...strange.

No matter what happens to Zu, he was definitely ten steps above Robert Sacre.

Sacreís name should be in the swear filter here

I hope for the best....but still confused on what happened last season. I was not as high on him his rookie season as many, but I was still impressed and hopeful....then dude shows up at summer league and was a total stiff!

Did he just read his press clippings and not work very hard last summer? I actually hope that was the case, and he shows progress during training camp because the version oh him last season was probably not an NBA level player.

Last season Zubac didn't get the opportunities. When he did, and especially after we got Thomas and started utilizing Zubac in the pick and roll he showed what he showed that got us excited last year.

Despite his 'rep' as a low post center, he's had the most success in the pick and roll and off ball because he has a soft touch and knows where to be.

Zu thrives with a traditional PnR guard such as Russell. LA probably won't feature one of those (again) next year. He is probably better off somewhere he can have that.

100%

And post play will come back around after everybody stops emulating a style of play which the Warriors are uniquely equipped for. After that, the league will be trying to match up with Embiid, Towns, Davis, etc.

Embiid, Towns and Davis, 3 guys who stretch the floor? Game play might change but numbers never will.

Is Zu play in the summer league? If so, he needs to come out with a bang.

Last summer league was so disappointing and he never recovered.
