Ivica Zubac says Tyson Chandler and JaVale McGee have been great mentors for him

Quote:
Tyson Chandler and JaVale McGee started mentoring Ivica Zubac this year. Now the young Lakers center is dunking everything. Coincidence? Doubtful.

The good veterans can do.

Zubac has also said that JaVale had and has stayed up with him going over other centers tendencies for defense.

Good guy that JaVale.

Luke before the game: McGee will be on a minutes restriction, Zubac has earned his minutes, Chandler will play some.

Luke in the game: Let's play Jonathan Williams, Chandler, and Kuzma at the 5 instead of Zubac.

idiot. And people wonder why it's hard for some youngsters to find a confident rhythm with a coach like this.

Unless hes hurt or is being traded, the move makes no sense. He has been working better on one, no logic in him sitting.

Would you happen to know who was the center for sac during those times?
Luke mentioned sac went small.

You cant have teams dictate your own lineups. And Zubak was a big part of punishing the Warriors small ball lineups in that blowout victory

Anyone know? Wondering if it was a 3 point specialist or something.

Bjelica - their PF
and yes, he was an outside shooter who Chandler couldn't cover, and Zu wouldn't have been able to either.
Kuz actually did a fair job against him.
Luke used McGee & Chandler against WCS - the Sacto announcers (I was watching a stream) even commented on the fact that when WCS came in, Luke sent Chandler or McGee in too

Sad that he didn't get any minutes. But I do understand the moves - also I think Zubac is not that dominant that you can dictate the other teams lineup with him. So I guess we can complain about Luke or just be happy that he actually adapted to the other teams lineup and got us a win.

Luke's mentality of "I'm gonna change my starting lineups based upon what they put out there" mentality rather than "I'm going to force their team to have to adjust to us." mentality is one of the bigger problems he has.

That's what he did with the Warriors and did not go small ball so your argument about his "mentality" is flawed.

Calm down. It's just Ivica Zubac. We won the freaking game.

As much as I am a Zubac supporter I still believe Chandler deserves and needs to get his minutes over Zu. McGee is the unquestioned starter and needs to be played as much as he physically can perform.

Hopefully Luke can spot Zu regular minutes to allow his development to continue. He brings enough of the intangibles (rebounds, rim protection) like Chandler while offering some offensive options.

You would have rather he stuck Zubac on Bjelica so he could have been rendered entirely useless on d (where heโ€™s actually better imo)? Because I assure you the screen and pop would have been feasted upon. It just wasnโ€™t a favorable matchup and I even told you a few pages back that this was going to happen not to get upset when it did. Also not get down on the staff if after a few attempts in small minutes and going games without playing based on matchups he struggles because as of right now, unless LBj is on the court handfeeding him confidence,... heโ€™s simply not better than our first or second string center on a nightly basis and last night he was a horrible matchup.

We played the Kings few days ago so Luke made some roster changes then we had a W. Some people have doubt about his roster adjustment. Now imagine if Luke didnโ€™t make any change and we lost the game. Again, there would be some people questioning Luke on too slow for lineup adjustments.

I donโ€™t like to judge a coach solely based on W or L and to be honest I think the difference in outcome of these two games are more about player performance than coaching. But Luke is in a situation, whatever he does and whatever the result of the game is, he would get criticism regardless. I donโ€™t think this is fair to him.

Zubac is our secret weapon to defeating the defending Champs. Maybe Luke's just saving him for when Rondo and Lebron come back because he didn't look same without those two guys.

More useless than Chandler would be/was on him?

There's no excuse.

Chandler wasnโ€™t on him. And Zubac would have been useless, good coaching job by Luke.

What's with his stone feet?

You're allowed to jump when the ball is in the air during a rebound.

My god. He also can't contest the rim worth jack. He makes himself so small and it's like he's not even 7 feet.
