It's not a question how long it takes. There are rules on how you exit the EU and they say the Brits have 2 years. During this time they can try to make a clean exit and make new contracts for trading and whatever with the rest of the EU. Or it will be very messy after those two years. But they will be exited in this time period.
I guess they will have a hard awakening. Norway also adopts about 70% of EU rules just to be able to trade - and Norway is "rich" compared to the UK. They also pay quite a bit of money to the EU. So my wild guess is that the UK will not gain money in this whole deal - but they will get a lot of hate from France since the French paid for most of UKs reduced fees. Anyway - it might not be an UK after all anymore. |

It's very unlikely Brexit will be reversed but as long as the door is cracked it's not a done deal. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Since everyone has decided to overlook the various actual memberships that are in play, it's worth noting that the UK's decision to exit the EU does NOT necessarily mean they will be exiting EFTA (The Euro version of NAFTA) nor does in mean that they will be exiting the EEA (European Economic Area). Depending on how talks regarding the status of British nationals working in the EU and EU nationals working in the UK, there could be an ultimate arrangement like that with Norway & Iceland, (Neither Norway nor Iceland are EU member states but they still participate in the EEA and that allows it's citizens and goods freedom of movement). Things will get interesting next spring if the UK is allowed to institute quota restrictions on immigration similar to what was granted to Liechtenstein. The really interesting part is that immigration into the UK has to rise even more because of their aging population and the lack of homegrown talent willing to wipe all those old arses. Immigrants are the only ones willing to do the wiping at the attendant income levels on offer. _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs.
