Kind of hard to not get an A in a two player draft when you have the #2 pick. In this case, it is either an A or an F this early. |
Well...it's been known to happen. Rarely, albeit....
....And with the 2nd pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select...
Dwyane Wade??? Nope.
Carmelo Anthony??? Try Again.
Chris Bosh??? Let's think outside the box here.
Darko Milecic!!!! |
Exactly my point. Lakers at this point get an A for not going Darko Milecic!
And hopefully it is not a Peyton Manning/Ryan Leaf scenario. _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

Ehh...just have fun with it. The grading system is nothing worth getting worked up over one way or the other. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |

Exactly. The fact we didn't F this up drafting a reach at #2 is worth commending. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

The Spurs could have picked my 30-year-old ass and gotten at worst a B+ grade. They just (rightfully) get the benefit of the doubt. But they have a lot of work to do with Murray who shoots like Jerryl Sasser. |

That's why this guy's gonna be great. Making non-shooters into great shooters is their MO |

The only good thing they did was to secure another 1st round pick in 2017 from Memphis. IMO that was a good move. |

If Zubac is unknown to you that says more about you and not the pick that the FO made. So an opinion based on the unknown really isn't much of an opinion. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

LOL< that was funny, yes Darkhole did suck: In the 96 games he played as a Piston, he only scored 152 points and averaged 1.6 points per game!
BUT: He was on the 2004 Pistons Team that beat the Lakers...ouch! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

Ainge's weakness is definitely in the draft. |

The Lakers took the no-brainer choice in Ingram. Zubac is a decent gamble for a second round pick. He might not play in the NBA for a couple of years, if at all, but he's as good a choice as anyone that late. |

People were all over the board about the Celtics. Some thought they had the best draft ever, getting all sorts of potential steals. Some thought that screwed up by not packaging those picks for a strong player, as a lot expected. |

At the time of the draft, picking Darko probably got an A+ grade. That's why its way too early for these report cards. Most players pretty much go at their expected slot. |

I saw the Lakers in the "Winners" section of every "Draft Day Winners and Losers" column I pulled up.
I didn't see a single Celtic entry in the "Winners" sections I read, although I did not check Fox Sports. I did, however, see the Celtics in almost every "Losers" section.
Avid Blazer fans around me where I work - they were ALL scratching their heads at what the Celtics did, even one individual who thinks Danny Ainge is a great GM said they screwed up big time. EVERYONE grudgingly acknowledged the Lakers killed it in the draft. And these are Laker haters. This is as non-homer a crowd you're going to find as far as the Lakers are concerned. |

Actually they are ONLY good for predictive value and NOT necessarily a true indicator of actual or eventual value... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |
