No one is really talking about him, but Marcelo Huertas was a "rookie" last year, and later in the season I saw him playing some excellent basketball. He might be the best pure PG on the team. I think he could be a great fit in Luke's new offense (as a backup to Russell), and since the Lakers didn't add any point guards through the draft and probably won't through Free Agency here, does that mean that Huertas will be brought back? |

I'd like to keep Huertas. Great team player and seems like a great guy. |

It should not be too hard to upgrade, the problem with him is his lack of offense, which does not spread the floor and allows his man to float over and guard the real offensive threat.
But then again, Luke may be able to use him in a more efficient manner, so if he did return, it would not be the end of the world, I just don't think he could play for at least 15-20 other NBA teams... _________________ “Always remember... As the 2nd or 3rd PG I can see us keeping him because of his passing savvy and leadership. He needs to continue to work hard on his defense and his outside shot. |

Meh. I wouldn't mind having him back but he's pretty low priority as a fourth guard. If you stagger the lineups correctly, we can run an effective three-guard lineup with D'Lo, Clarkson and Lou. Ideally, we only need Huertas in blowouts or if there's foul trouble. |

I don't think he helps us in a game changing way. There are veteran
NBA PG's we could be entertaining...IMO, PASS _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Very low priority. Easy to replace. Replacement likely wouldn't be better. |

No issues with him returning as a 3rd PG His passing and understanding of the flow of an offense will help in practices. Inexpensive contract and provides maturity.
So much depends on how the Lakers build the roster though. How does Walton envision the depth chart? Are they adding a free agent?
IMO too many variable to predict at the moment. |

I like Huertas, good cheap 3rd string PG but maybe we can upgrade to J.Lin or Jarret Jack if the price is right |

He's unselfish and it rubs off on the younger players. I think he'll be back. |

Def unselfish, pass 1st PG. I thought he played well towards the end of the season, almost poor man Nash |

Huertas is a high IQ, unselfish and excellent passer. If this type of player can help our other players "play more team ball" instead of ISO all the time... we should keep him. _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season. |

I would be okay if he is our 3rd string back up PG, but as our actual back up.
too big of a liability on the defensive end. |

I'd love to have him back, playing a proper offensive system.
He's a nice guy and an excellent mentor to our young guards. |

Same as most here......good 3rd string PG that can be utilized in the new system when needed. Will probably get a big raise as we need to get to the cap floor. Also need his maturity. |

I like him too, but if we end up needing to overpay a player or two on a 1 year deal to hit the cap floor (I hope we do frankly, barring Durant coming), why not look at Barbosa? Knows Luke's system, can obviously still get a bucket or two & has played a lot of PG. |

Potential 4th/5th guard if we already have a strong 3-guard rotation. He'd be handy for foul trouble, short-term injury situations or when the offense needs a kick-start. I wouldn't want him playing regular minutes should someone go down with a long-term injury though.
If he costs more than a million...I'd pass. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

I like Huertas, I thought he played pretty well in a miserable situation last year.
I wouldn't bust the bank on him, but if he wants to stay on a reasonable contract, I wouldn't be opposed to it. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

He's garbage. Let him go. Can't shoot, can't guard anybody, 32 years old, no upside. Ship him out. |
