With Kobe the obvious team captain for much of the past 20 years, there is now a void in that department.

If we could only have one team captain, who would your pick be?

Also, do you think we should have more than one captain?

For me, if I could only have one, I'd pick D'Angelo Russell. Since I can have multiple, I'm also nominating Julius Randle.

Ingram. He has no past history of having character issues and is thought to be VERY mature for his age.

Don't think DAR has the maturity to lead this team at this point. They elect co captains anyway so I say Julius and hopefully my dream FA Conley.

Is there only one team captain? I always thought there was at least 3.

Russell is too immature to be a leader. Talented and will be a top 2 scorer on the team, but I think Clarkson is more respected in the locker room.

Nope. Often there are two, but laat year we only had one.

I can't do a poll with multiple options so I framed it as if we could only have one. And if you feel we should have more than one, just post it.

Someone may emerge during training camp and be chosen. Right now, there's no obvious choice. Russell has the swagger and seems like the type that could bring guys together but he doesn't have the demeanor. Clarkson and Randle don't appear to be vocal enough. It should probably a veteran we sign who has been around the block. Even if the guy isn't a big name.

JC has the least upside of all our youngster going forward, and he has not shown any leadership quality as of yet. Why make him the captain? Because he has most seniority?

We don't know what JC upside is. He was the leading scorer last year on a team full of chuckers. He will most likely be the leading scorer this year as well.

Can you not do this in every single thread?

And if Clarkson is the leading scorer next year, the Lakers will have a very disappointing season

On court and of the young group, it has to be Russell, as the starting PG I hope he understand this.
Of the whole team preferably a Vet, but who's out there really..

I'd wait until after FA's are settled. None of our young kids is
Actually ready to really lead. Imagine if Horford comes, he's the
no brainier or some other important Vet...

I'd wait and see who arrives.

Agree. Likely a free agent if everything goes as we hope.

But I would be thrilled to see Russell or Ingram earning the vote and trust of their teammates in camp.

I picked Randle. He seems the most mature out of a pretty young bunch. I saw a lot of people selecting DLO, but I feel he needs a couple of more years before assuming the team captain role. DLO can play the roll of our best player, our best play maker, or even our biggest star. I also think it'll do wonders for Randle's confidence going forward, knowing that he was the first building block in our rebuild and that we fully have his back.

I guess the only questionable off-court moves Randle made was

1) Not keeping the goggles.
2) What was up with that brown hair he had for like a week?

This question made me realize how bad we're going to be if we don't sign done quality players. All our guys are too young to really lead a winning team currently.
