If Durant leaves OKC, do we pursue Westbook now or wait for free agency 2017? |
Yes, we should trade for Westbrook and everyone is tradable. |

Yes, we should trade for Westbrook, but we have some untouchable players. |

OKC is in the habit of trading players in or entering the final year of their contract. Harden, Jackson, and Ibaka all got traded for one reason or another. My question is, if Durant leaves OKC, Westbrook would presumably be on the market immediately. The longer they wait, the less they would get back in return.
So my question is, do we go after Westbrook immediately, while his body has a year less wear and tear? We can then offer him more money and years in the offseason without fear of exceeding our cap. And if we trade for Westbrook, is every Laker player tradable?
Or should we just wait till free agency 2017 and hope that he signs with us? With 60m in cap space this season and the cap jumping up again next season, we could easily sign a few good players this year and still maintain cap flexibility for Westbrook next year.

Wait.
WB/Ingram/DLo, etc. is better than losing one or both for WB. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Darn I messed up on the Poll question. Let me try and fix it. Not sure if I can, but there should be a, "No, I don't want Westbrook on the Lakers."

It will take Russell and Ingram to have a chance at Westbrook... Do you really want OKC to have a potential winning future with Oladipo/Ingram/Russell/Sabonis? |

Have you guys not learned from the Dwight Howard trade. Never give up assets for a 1 year rental that could easily walk to another team in free agency. We should wait to pursue him in free agency and not give up our assets. |

Seems unanimous so far. I also picked wait till next season, although I'm not sure if our front office will look at it that way. |

I'm sticking with D'Angelo Russell. You guys can have Westbrook. In my eyes, D'Lo is our future along with Randle and Ingram. _________________ Lakers, today. Lakers, tomorrow. Lakers, forever. |

I'm not in on lighting a candle in 2016 to see if Westbrook wants
to come in 2017...
Hopefully we build a solid team with players that want to come
to the Lakers, if Westbrook is down with that and we think THEN that
we need an upgrade, why not.
Right now the focus should be on 2016 current team plus thew FA we
do get. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Not a big fan of Westbrook. Too inefficient. His first season with us would be the 17/18 season, and he turns 30 in 18. Said this many times, his physical brand of basketball is not going to translate smoothly into his 30's. Sure, I'll take him for free, but you better not trade any of our young ones. |

I guess another obvious reason to wait is to see if he survives this upcoming season, and what shape he is in after it. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

No rush in this season. We can develop the young guys right now and add Westbrook next season to propel us into Playoffs.
This season is for developing the young pups under Luke Walton. Would be fun to watch. |

I voted yes, but the list of untouchables is long in my mind for the reason of his impending FA. DLO, Ingram, Randle, Nance, and Clarkson. Obviously a package of Lou/Nick/S&T Hibbert won't get it done, but maybe we could include all of our picks for the next 5 years like we did with Nash _________________ Magic*Kobe*LBJ*AD*Cap |

not a fan of him. yeah he has a fiery, competitive attitude, but it comes off as arrogant and annoying. and he's turnover prone. i could see him putting up big numbers on our team, but we'd choke games in the 4th quarter, and he'd be snappy with his teammates and the media.
his attitude and demeanor remind me of rajon rondo.
he'd be a good 2nd option, but i wouldn't give him the keys to the team. _________________ Dominating every day. |

DING - WINNER!
PLUS, we should play this year out with our new core and whoever we sign as FAs this summer. Then we'd either have ASSETS (a) to trade if needed for a S&T deal with OKC (if that's still allowed), or 9b) to make the team look worthwhile to RW to sign with as a FA. _________________ Keep or Dump Power Rankings (4/12/23):

Youu absolutely wait to free agency. You are not winning it all this year. You keep the young group together and let them build. |

Couldn't agree more. I don't get this whole Westbrook obsession. We already have a very promising starting point guard in D'Angelo Russell - why waste time, energy, money, trade assets on a player whose first, second and third weapon is his freakish athletic ability? We're talking a guy nearing his 30's with a history of knee surgeries. With the way he's playing, dude's a disastrous injury waiting to happen. Just look at what happened to Wade once the wheels started to fall off. If it weren't for LeBron and Bosh, he'd be retired by now.
Plus, last year people were complaining about Kobe supposedly holding back the development of our young guys, but now we're supposed to go after THE usage rate monster? It just doesn't make any damn sense. |

It's nice to have hope in the young group but any time you have the opportunity to land a perennial All-Star and a walking triple double without giving up any of your assets ... YOU DO IT.
I really don't ever see DLO averaging 24/25 pts 8 reb 10 ast _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again
