You think Rose is capable of being a role player? Okay.
There are going to be times when this team looks awesome next season, and there are going to be times when it's a train wreck. I agree with 45 wins as the ceiling, but with a low floor. |

Don't forget about Wade. He's a FA. I can see him either joining the Knicks or maybe just go to Cleveland to "compete" against the Warriors. _________________

They just signed Mindaugas Kuzminskas, a Euro that we were looking at.
After the Rose & Noah deals, I actually really liked their summer. Good value on Lee, Jennings, & Thomas, while taking a flier on Kuzminskas. But that Rose deal and giving Noah 4 years are hard to overlook. |

jealous of their deal for lee tbh, though i am intrigued by what lou will can do under walton on a 7mm contract that looks like we're paying him pennies now. |

no they won't. rose will be hurt. melo still doesn't play defense.
they best they will do is be a 2 seed. that's if all of the stars align.
but as you know, the #2 seeded team in the east is usually an above average team at best (see: hawks, raptors) _________________ Dominating every day. |

I wouldn´t say that a team who chooses two absolutely washed-up, injury prone players like Noah and Rose as starters is going to be a "monster". And putting two remarkably selfish guys who were never able to achieve collective success like Rose and Melo together is crazy.
It is going to be a long, long season for them. |

I think rose and melo really have nothing to lose at this point. both will find a way to play with each other and feed off Porzingis |

Courtney Lee and practicing defense
Quote: |
Ian Begley
ESPN Staff Writer
Courtney Lee says the Knicks should "practice against more game-like situations" rather than practicing against the triangle offense. "We run the triangle, we practice against it a lot. I think we need to practice against pick and rolls, practice against other looks and whatnot and get comfortable with that because that's what other teams are running."

Why can't Phil just let Horn run the sets he ran in Phoenix? The triangle phil wants to run is handcuffing his players and not allowing them to maximize themselves. |

Can't believe I missed this thread. Sorry, that starting unit looks like the mutant, bizzaro, crap version of a contender.
- Oft injured players? Check
- Multiple isolation players? Check
- Non Triangle players and STILL trying to pus the Triangle? Check
They just got pasted at home to the Rockets. What's going good for them? Well they play int he East...that's a positive. I like Porzingis but at this point he's comically overrated. Doubt anyone's even watched these guys play yet this year. At least anyone that's raving about this team. At their best, I can't see them being anything more than cannon fodder for Lebron. |

A. Melo and Rose have never fed off another player.
B. Porzingis has never at any point in his career and certainly not this year shown that he can be a hub of an offense for stretches at a time much less over the course of a game never mind an entire season.
If THIS band of malcontents is considered a "monster". Oh my. |

And... Courtney Lee made a great point tonight:

Still defense is the issue. The Knicks have allowed 119, 112 and 118 points in their three losses.
Courtney Lee suggested the Knicks may need to practice against other offensive approaches in practice, aside from the triangle.
“I think we need to practice against pick and rolls, against other looks,” Lee said. |

L M A O. I'm shocked.
However...to be fair, I think the two of them are delusional about what Rose brings to the table. Last season he was among the least efficient player of anyone that played more than 32mpg and that includes Kobe that dgaf. Defensively, his Drpm reverted back to his pre Thibs days at -3.17 (he was about average with Thibs). He was the 81st PG in RPM at -4.17. That is swimming in waters that the ever drunk Lawson, the ever not very good Napier tread. That's god awful.
It's not. 2010. Anymore. |

He hasn't exactly saved the franchise like so many were expecting.
I like Porzingis too but you hear crickets when he posts a stat line of:
3 pts 8 reb 0 dimes. Not every single game is a standout which is expected from the young fella but c'mon now.
Didn't mind the Rose deal. He rolled the dice but giving Noah that boat load of money was crazy. Early on, imo, Mozgod > Noah. Yikes. _________________ Music is my medicine |
