Maybe they will keep him in check this time around. Although, Luke seems like a good coach and good guy to hang with. He also doesn't seem the type that would put up with Young's antics. I guess we will see.
I do think they will check to see what they got in NY and see if he can be less of a distraction. But still...I really hope he doesn't hang with Ingram a lot.
Why do they have to keep him in check? Not talking to his teammates? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Seriously... If Nick is still a Laker when camp starts, I will be upset and it will negatively impact my interest in the season for sure.
I only have two expectations from the month of October:
1. John de Lancie banishes Nick Young to the Delta Quadrant
2. Glenn gets the bat... But Abraham lives. _________________ “There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. A man must constantly exceed his level.” ―Bruce Lee

I fear the only reason Nick Young still breathes as a Laker, is because Anthony Brown sucks. The alternate universe may bring us a better playing Nick Young (and maybe better behaved player, sort of like when Bill Clinton got caught with his pants down and to slow down on the infidelity), and Brown plays so bad that Nick Young works his way back into the rotation and avoids the axe this season. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions!

Luke pretty much put the lid on the idea that the team is going to dump Young, as I have been saying all offseason. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

Did he? Good. Hopefully this little melodrama ends now...
That was Luke's assessment, what is in the past is in the past. As long as it doesn't affect team chemistry, it isn't an issue. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Like I mentioned in another thread, I think Luke will get the most out of Nick Young.
The "World's Worst Coach" (WWC) and his stupid coaching games made Nick into a worse idiot than he usually is.
I think Luke recognizes the NY can be a valuable weapon on offense because Nick can get hot and isn't afraid to shoot.
ABrown can be his Alter ego and play the spot minutes when they need a defender to cool off someone like Klay or like he did to Hield.
Nick can be the big guard and post up the little guys like Livingston did in the playoffs.
I think Luke will not just say "you're the starting five" and "you will automatically come in off the bench at TBD time". He will use their strengths when the game dictates they are needed....Unlike the WWC.
That one year when Kobe was out, NY played really well and was basically the Lakers best player. Hopefully Nick has worked out hard during the off season because this is probably his last chance with the Lakers if not the NBA.

I trust Luke/FO on this.
As they should be trusted, especially Luke. Young has been in unfortunate situations the last 3 years with the Lakers. Now he will be on a team with real talent and better chemistry and unity.
I expect Young to have a solid year shooting the ball.

Something like 11/2/3 on 48/37/75.
More like DNP-CDs. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

If AB isn't producing and Lou is bricking shots, Young will get a chance to play.

Deng/Ingram at SF is more than enough, unless one gets hurt. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Agree with this. Hopefully neither one gets hurt. But honestly as far as shooting goes I'll take Young over Brown anytime. If Young can't be traded might as well keep him for insurance. Brown unfortunately does not have NBA skills.

I guess he could have a spectacular spot-up shooting pre-season, cut out all the 1-on-1 indulgences, and play his way into the rotation. Short of that, he's a towel waiver.

I see Young fitting better than Lou in this new setup. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him getting a good amount of time at SG especially when we need some defense.

First time I've ever heard the words "Nick Young" and "post up" in the same sentence. Ever. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there."

Haha....the next time Young posts up will be his first time.
