Mr.Heat is long gone.

It would have been nice for him to stay there all the way through, maybe they'd have a nice cushy FO spot for him down the line also.

Oh well, hopefully he gets his money/change/whatever he wants.

Welp, there won't be too many "smiling faces" in the Heat fanbase.

Say what you want about the Lakers FO, at least they took care of their franchise player.

Lol! Is this confirmed? I was just watching my DVR of yesterday's NBA Gametime and even after the KD departure there they were saying all the same things about D Wade

"Oh he is Miami" "he would never leave he's the face of the franchise" "you just can't see him playing anywhere else..."

No Y'ALL can't see him playing anywhere else, that doesn't have anything to do with him and what he's thinking. Miami needed to put some Respek on his name if they wanted him to stay and they failed to do so.

EDIT: they just announced it on NBATV. Lol!

I hate to say I watched her show just to see if Strahan and her would get into it in the final week...

Wade tried to sit on the high chair but bounced and slid all the way back to the dressing room.

Kinda hilarious that people blamed our front office for being too loyal to somebody like Kobe, somebody who busted his ass for 20 years for a single team....and then we have the other side of the coin where we have Pat Riley who would purposely undercut the most loyal superstar they had on the Heat who actually won championships for them.

After taxes its probably 4 or 5 million, but I think its the fact that he didn't feel appreciated by the front office. Miami will be hurting for a couple of seasons especially if they don't find anybody to fill his shoes. Think he saw the writing on the wall, when he realized he wasn't their 1st or 2nd priority on the team in free agency.

Pat Riley was awesome for the Lakers. That being said, it's obvious he's pretty ruthless when it comes to players and coaches.

So in the free agency Heat sign Whiteside but lose Wade, Deng, Joe Johnson & Tyler Johnson. They were just a game away from making it to the Eastern finals. I guess Pat Riley was really banking on KD and it ended up backfiring.

HEat suck.

Should of lost to a crappy Hornet team if Batum never came back... Wade career will end in 2 seasons or before. The bulls and hoiberg were not a good match for wade.

They gave wade the max according to their cap space, so, riley did what all he could. They even tried to trade mcroberts to make space for wade's max... However, other teams wanted +picks and winslow...

Yeah I don't see the big deal. They already got his best years and he will be remembered as a member of the Heat.

He should go into the Hall in a Bulls Jersey.

Heat might have had something if Bosh came back. Sucks for them.

That's what I find amusing how many people said the Lakers doing that for Kobe was terrible etc but with Wade they should've done it go figure....

Loyalty in pro sports is a joke.

Rarely does a franchise player stay with the same team their entire career.

Loyalty was much easier back in the days before free agency. Now we have salary caps and unfortunately even the most loyal team guys will end up on the outs if they don't figure into a franchise future plans.

Quote:
Report: Pat Riley never called Dwyane Wade during free agency that took Wade to Bulls

In his season-ending press conference, Pat Riley said of Dwyane Wade, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald:

He’s a lifer. What he’s done in this city over the last 13 years is irreplaceable. We want to do the right thing, there’s no doubt.

The right thing turned out to be a two-year, $40 million contract offer — less than the Bulls, who got him, and Nuggets offered.

The right thing also apparently didn’t include a phone call.

Ethan J. Skolnick of the Miami Herald:

While you're watching Kelly Ripa, one more nugget: Pat Riley never called Dwyane Wade during the entire process.

This certainly won’t be the last mudslinging after the messy breakup between Wade and the Heat. Wade doesn’t want to become a pariah in Miami for his exit, and the Heat don’t want to lose their reputation as an organization that treats players well.

Even if it’s true that Riley never called, I wonder how spun this is. Did he talk to Wade in person? Text? Email?

At minimum, the absence of Riley — the famed recruiter — at the Heat’s final meeting with Wade was telling.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Perhaps only this stands between Dwyane Wade and his Miami Heat departure: Possible one-on-one meeting with owner Micky Arison today.

Wade sacrificed salary for years — and was rewarded with successful teams, including two championship squads after luring LeBron James and Chris Bosh. But it also seemed Wade expected to recoup his financial losses someday.

That day never came, and if Riley didn’t sell Wade on Miami’s other positives, what was going to keep the star guard there?
