|
|
I felt bad for the guy when his image was on the screen and he got boos. He seemed to make light of it, so that's cool.
He always seems to take the blame and get none of the credit. When we make good trades (Calderon and 2 picks for free) and draft potential steals (Zubac, Clarkson, Nance), Mitch gets the credit. When our signings are a little questionable (Mozgov), Jim gets the blame. I don't think fans would boo Mitch if he came up on screen, but they should truly share in the successes and failures.
I, for one, think that the franchise is headed in the right direction with the youth we've drafted, the exemplary veterans we've signed and the new coaching staff. I know much has been made of the playoff contention timeline, but I don't think a further shakeup would be a good thing for the organization if we have a much more successful season (30+ wins) and it's clear we're trending upward. _________________ "I like looking at a guy's face when he realizes that even his best moves aren't going to work on me all night. yeah that was totally uncalled for. Dude is trying his best, and to be fair to him, I think he got thrown into a bad situation since hes taken over (Kobe post injury, His dad wanting to run an uptempo offence & Bringing in MDA, then hiring BS to have Kobes respect and keep him in check).
He finally navigated out of those dark alleys and has freedom to build a team of his liking and building a culture. It started by letting BS go and getting Luke here.

Jim Buss basked in it. But seriously, I love watching these young guys, and the seasons would be enjoyable to watch even if we aren't making the playoffs and we get to see the young guys develop. With Jim Buss on a 1 year deadline he has every incentive to trade away all we have built over the last few years in a desperate attempt to save his job.
He needs to be fired NOW before he does something stupid. |

I don't think he will do that. He will be a co-owner regardless so he doesn't want a Nets 2.0 with no future. I am more worried about Jeanie going for the quick fix. _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

I think even he's learned from the Howard / Nash deals that you cant cheat the rebuild process.
It has to happen sooner or later (OKC / GSW style)
He's sticking to the young guns and is going to let them go through the growing pains. |

Drafting over the last 2 seasons has been stellar. They should dump that stupid timeline and keep rocking. |

Jim just seems to have this infatuation where he would rather be Jerry West than Jerry Buss. He wants to keep his West-esque job raher than transition to a Buss-esque job.
I don't see where you would think that Jeannie would be more likely to pull this type of move other than pure unadulterated prejudice. She has shown to be a person who lets the person appointed to make basketball decision free to make basketball decisions. The unfortunate truth, is that maybe Jim isn't the best person to be making those decisions.

Jim, if you are reading this board... I thought you were dealt some unlucky blows... especially with basketball reasons, Steve Nash's bizarre nerve injury and Kobe's Achilles... and I respect the efforts you and Mitch have made to repair the team. The last two years were excruciating but I'm really hopeful for this year... and I thank you for having faith in yourself and not trading for pieces that would make you look good in the short term, but hurt the team in the long run.
Who knows what will happen... but at least you two have set us up for success in the future. Thanks from a long time Lakers fan. |

What aspects does he have final say over? Every aspect? So he chose Zubac?
I am okay if you say yes to this, but how about when things go bad? Are all bad decisions also up to him? Or is it just the good decisions we should credit him with? If he has truly been in charge the last few years he is as big of a loser as Shaul from Beverly Hills says he is. |

Little background: I became a Lakers fan back in '92. Watching Vlade, Elden Campbell, Cedric Ceballos, Eddie Jones, and Nick Van Exel. So I've seen my share of ups and downs as a Lakers fan.
Hearing the boos sent Jim Buss's way made me embarrassed for the Lakers fan base. Clearly too many of us digest and regurgitate all we hear on talk radio and "expert" analysts and Monday morning quarterbacks.
I trust my eyes and ears.
What Jim and company did to assemble Dwight and Nash felt so right, a grand slam swing that everyone applauded to win titles now. That injuries occurred and chemistry didn't work shouldn't stain a bold attempt. The recovery period afterwards was worth the risk. Complicated further by Kobe's retirement. And recover we have.
We are in a great position financially and with young talent that shows promise. You don't have to like Jim Buss, but he didn't deserve the boos. Made me sick. Those same fans cheering the young players somehow think Jim had nothing to do with that? So many words I'd use to describe them.

I respect him more now for the way he responded. He and Mitch have executed a plan, and are prepared to follow it through, for better or worse.
My thoughts after this first game is that our payroll has to be looked at in terms of positions. How much are Ingram + Deng costing us at SF? Or Zubac + Black + Mozgov? Players will get disproportionate salaries based on factors like whether they are rookies, or whether they hit their contract year during this summer or next, but as long as a particular position delivers what we need at a reasonable total cost, then we are fine. |

A grand slam swing when he chose to go with Mike freaking D'Antoni over Phil Jackson? Anyone who really believes MDA was the better choice does not have a rational bone in his body. We need to get Jim Buss out of the FO before he screws up this chance we have been given |

Jim's fans think he should get credit for three straight lottery picks that might not have even been there due to stupid deals he pulled off. Two of those picks are there from blatant tank jobs that Byron pulled off for him.
No credit. Just shame. The crowd said it all.
And his reaction was pure butthurt. |
