A D-league guy for sure. Hard working but in the NBA nada.

I watched all the summer games. While he has some bounce and tenacity, he cannot shoot (and doesn't finish particularly well.) Was hoping he would be a bit better than he has looked. Jabari Brown might be interesting, for instant offense, instead of Swaggy?

Personally I wasn't impressed with XM radio.
Does he have any court vision?
But we'll see if he gets an invite to camp. Let the best man win.

I'd keep Huertas for a single reason, he is a true PG and there are moments where you need one to keep all the other guys going, even if he is not a scoring thread or a good defender.

Look at nance full highlights and it's clear:

He is a great assurance to have as 3rd string PG.

This summer league I've seen our guards trying a foater with a big rolling hard to the basket. You have to feed the big dog in those kind of plays to keep them going. I don`t expect a lot of minutes, but he has a role and can help us when our guards become a bit too shot happy.

Calderon is also a true point guard, no?

Sure, and I believe he is ahead of Huertas.

Yeah, so that's why I don't think we really need Huertas, at least for the reasons you noted.

Without a young long term project a 3rd string player is an insurance if Dlo or Calderon get hurt. With a young roster full of prospects with Dlo still developing his PG skills, I believe it's not the best time to use a roster spot with a young project. Huertas seems to be a good presesnce and is one more veteran able to run a second unit when needed.

The Catalyst

"Huertas, known as ‘The Catalyst’ by many fans, became a crowd favorite late in the year due to his ability to spark runs coming off the bench due to his outstanding court vision and passing ability."
