I have no inside info, but the silence about the unsigned rookies and Black is making me think the Lakers are up to something. There's no great free agents left unless LeBron is going to come here. Signing Mo Harkless as some talk radio guy suggested, doesn't seem like it would take all this calculating. I'm sensing a deal that is as big as acquiring Pau. The Lakers get extra quiet like a sneaky cat when they're about to do something and the signs are there.

The question is who is their target? Westbrook? Lebron? I'll start with a strong guess that it ain't Harkless.

Maybe I'm wrong, and I'm ok with that. I just wonder.

Don't worry. It's probably related to shipping Young off somewhere if possible. We'll trade for your overpayed guy for our Benjamin Buttons (The older he gets the younger he acts).

Nice nickname!

When I saw the thread title, I figured it was a Gadget 2.0 topic. I agree, though, something is going down. Now, just because nothing happens, it doesn't mean they haven't been working on something.

Not when it comes to a storied franchise like the Lakers. who have known to be working on big trades behind the scenes when there is a opportunity.

My post isn't idiotic as you are assuming.

The FO is quiet because they've done, in their eyes, their work for the summer and are probably on vacation. What move could they possibly make that A) wouldn't involve Russell, Randle, Ingram or Clarkson ? And B) would push us closer to the playoffs? Evans?? MOnroe?? gay?? I think they're quiet because they're done.

It could take a while so who knows how long this will go on. I imagine we will know well before pre-season begins.

As THEY say in police work and in public restrooms across America, the job's not finished until the paperwork is done. There are at least 3 unsigned players, including 2 rookies. Why?

IIRC, last time we made a big trade was on August which involved the Howard trade, Lakers probably would want anyone coming in to build chemistry with the staff and players, ASAP so this won't drag out to long.

I was thinking of the Howard trade and I didn't remember the month, but I do remember it being before pre season.

I am thinking they are keeping their options open in case someone approaches them with a Pau like deal. I don't think they are shopping anyone other than Young right now. Bu they will certainly listen and are keeping cap space available.

Talking trade speculation, Zubac’s playing time, and more!

Quote:
Will the Lakers make any more offseason moves? Why hasn’t Brandon Ingram signed his contract? How much playing time will Ivica Zubac get this year? Anthony answered all of this and more in the latest episode of Locked on Lakers.

Why close all avenues to potentially gain more assets when you don't need to? That is very Clipper-like.

Possible. When in doubt follow the money, I understand viewership was the lowest it's ever been. Could be the investors want to make sure we don't have another losing/lotto season. Three bad seasons in a row and now there's no Kobe who acted as a safety net (or excuse), I think they're somewhat desperate to make sure this season is a successful one ( playoffs??)

SSR has touched on a bit, but it's quite telling that they haven't signed those three yet. To me, it seems apparent that the Lakers are for an apparent reason. It might be because they've agreed to a framework of a deal unless the team can find a better deal.

I really like the team as it is. Trades are tough to guess with the salary cap and the blockbuster 3 way deals. If the rookies develop as I expect, I don't even know what is considered our greatest position of need. I like them all. It seems that they just need spare parts to be the Warriors lite 2016 edition.
