By last I think they meant the last team to make playoffs as the 8th seed |

According to ESPN and their rankings I'm going pretty high on that tree limb. Seriously, how do you put a team with three highly touted lottery picks, solid vets, with the hottest up and coming coach dead last? |

ESPN is usually correct the majority of the time if you include their predictions of the other teams. (ie. Cavs, Jazz, Raptors, etc.)
Yes, they will miss once in a while but they are usually correct.
Lakers are young and it is difficult for a young team to do well. |

What did ESPN predict for Boston last year? |

I don't think we'll end up dead last, but I do expect us to be near it. |

We have a chance to beat Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, and Sacramento. We're just slightly behind Memphis, Utah, and Minnesota. |

They hate the Lakers back there. although they may be right
they don't give you the benefit of the doubt.
There are a few things that might turn things around.
That Mosgov is much better than Hibbert was. Hibbert was a negative at center.
There was no true SF. Deng fills that big time hole with Ingram.
But it still comes down to the improvement of the young core.
It starts with DLO and Randle. They have to rise above the fray.
Then Clarkson, Black, Nance, Zubac, Brown.
Lou and Young has to regain their scoring form for the second unit.
The Lakers must stop shooting themselves in the foot. It has to end.
The FO has to listen more to Luke Walton than any other coach in the past. |
We could improve a lot and still not win. We were the worst defensive team last year, the second worst offensive teams, and lost by an average of almost 10 points a game. So even if we improve dramatically, we may simply lose games by less, rather than win more. |

I think people who didn't watch every game last year truly don't know how many games Byron cost us with his bass/Kelly lineup...his letting Kobe jack up terrible shots and playing no D...hell Lou Williams cost us 3 games alone by missing last second shots on terrible iso plays.
No, we won't make the playoffs...but we will win 30 games and we are better than the Suns and the kings and may be as good as the nuggets. We will be the 6th or 7th worst team this season and convey our pick more than likely.
ESPN has such a bias against the lakers, according to the celts are going to challenge for the eastern conference this year...come on man |

I think this is a very fair assessment, and I don't think that 25 wins would be a bad thing at all. Our leadership and "franchise" guys are young, and I would rather have a team that has to work for success than have it handed to them. I think the core would be very encouraged by a ~10 win improvement, and they will just continue to grow and get better. If we win 25 or more, I think we can then assume that we will be looked at more seriously by vets, and the success will grow and grow. We aren't a championship team yet, but if we can be patient, 3 years from now could be something very special. In the meantime, let's enjoy the journey. |

I think we are well behind Memphis and Utah.
Utah barely missed the playoffs, and Memphis is a veteran team with Conley, Marc, parsons, Randolph, Allen, etc
I love our young talent but teams as young as we are typically struggle. |

Honestly I'm just hoping to see a system put into place, player growth, and us keeping our top 3 draft pick. Free Agents arent coming our way, so hopefully we are able to keep slow building through the draft _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Hey guys I know this is slightly off topic for this thread but people are mentioning tanking so I figure it kind of has a place. What is the deal with next years draft pick? I recall it at some point unconditionally belonging to the sixers. What is the status? _________________ The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. |

Valid point.
ESPN also gave us one of the greater improvements, our problem is that our franchise is coming from a 17 win season losing games by a wide margin and without signing any superstar this offseason. That is not just the amount of games we lost, a decent improvement means losing games by four or five points, not winning 40 games. |

I think you guys are taking these articles too seriously. They are fairly accurate unless there's a team that's a surprise riser (Blazers) or surprise faller (Rockets), in which case they almost never predict it. |

ESPN... You're wrong. The Lakers will be surprisingly better. Year after year, they have gloated over our demise. This year they are gonna be proven wrong, not gonna end up in last place, there's plenty of other teams in the west that can have that honor. _________________ "If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". Tbh if we get 30-35 wins this year that's still top 3 worst in the league I think. But hey it'll be a good improvement and a top pick more than likely again lol |

I'll take it. Like u said in your previous post free agents aren't flocking here so rebuild like this. Remember Timberwolves with all the talent they had this was there '2nd' year of rebuilding and they won 29 games but u saw the improvement with them this year compared to the year before |
