Well 30 wins and one more top 3 pick would just make me feel great.

Is ESPN Correct That Lakers Will Finish Last Place In The West Next Season?

Just when spirits were high, and all things seemed possible, ESPN has thrown a glass of freezing cold water in the collective faces of all Lakers fans who were yanked from their pleasant slumber while enjoying a happy dream. In its annual summer projections for the 2016-17 NBA season, ESPN has the Lakers firmly entrenched in last place in the Western Conference. They are projected to win 25 games, which is eight games better than last year but still a sobering thought for fans who have lived through the Lakers horrors of the past few seasons.

In seven months, we will have a sense if this analysis is correct.

As mentioned, ESPN has been fairly accurate with its predictions in the past.

The journey back is going to tough and will not be surprised if we are close to the prediction.

Seems right....

The Kings lost Rondo, but they got a solid coach... Kings were doing pretty decently too last season.

WIth Cousins on the team, they were 29-36.

So, the other 17 games, they were 4-13. They got vets this season and collison can play the point.

Suns are a mystery. Don't know much about Bender, however, they have 4 pgs that can all score

ESPN didn't have Portland winning 44 games last year and they do sometimes make errors with there projections.

I'm betting the wins are too low, but the standing is pretty accurate.

I'm anticipating something like the outcomes you describe except the feeling great part.

I agree. However, you have to acknowledge that ESPN's predictions do not include myopic Laker fans and try to be as impartial as possible.

I hope they are wrong but would not be surprised if the Lakers are closer to worse record than to the 8th spot of the playoffs.

I think that the Kings and Nets are really going to be bad next year.

I think the Lakers will be like watching a great 14 year old basketball player.

You'll see that the "it" is there, but physically not there yet.

I'm going to resurrect this thread when we're fighting for a playoff spot.

Welp they almost got it right.

Markkanen will be a better pro than Josh Jackson

Doubling Down: Josh Jackson will get traded before his rookie contract expires and will have off court issues.

How did they know we would intentionally tank games before the season? Man they are good.

I don't even know in how many consecutive seasons ESPN has been spot on or favorable in their projections about our win totals. But it's a lot. At least 5 I think.

I expected 30-35 this season. Welp.

Perhaps. But my prediction never included the assumption we would tank.

Theirs probably. I think thats a reason they tend to be more accurate. They factor in injuries, tanking, etc. Because we are fans, we tend to think about the talent and how many it COULD reasonably win.
