NBA sources say Clippers are actively exploring sites for new arena. One area that interests: Westside. Staples Ctr lase runs thru 2024. |
please get out of Staples, but considering the immense land costs on the Westside and that City and State wont give them a penny, I see this as phase 1 of Balmers plan to move them to Seattle or Las Vegas, saying look we need our own arena we cant compete |
I'll donate $100 towards the cost!! ......Please let it happen!!
|
Let me know where the kick starter is and I'd GLADLY donate to the cause!

The traffic on the already miserable West side will be unbearable. Kinda fits the Clipper culture though. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

I wonder how much money they would save by not having to print and hang those giants selfies 41 times a year. The new stadium could pay for itself. |

Hard to imagine why he'd move the team, since that would significantly decrease the franchise's value. He just renewed the lease for Staples, so nothing will happen for almost a decade. |
he personally would make a ton of money he could charge a premium price and not be the step child for tickets and Clippers have one of the worst TV deals in NBA he would get a ton of money for TV rights going back to Seattle |
Hard to imagine TV rights or ticket prices in Seattle would trump what the Clippers could get in LA. Market just isn't big enough. I mean, if an NBA team leaves you for Oklahoma City, you know your city doesn't exactly rain down dollars on an NBA team. I would guess moving from LA to Seattle would cut the franchise value by at least 50%. Will never happen. |

they left Seattle because the owners before the oil guy who bought them couldnt get funding for an arena and good ole Clay lied and moved them first chance he could |

It makes sense for them, especially for a tech guy. Staples is behind the curve in tech, I can see Balmer wanting an arena outfitted similar to Levin Stadium when it comes to the technology side. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I can't imagine the NBA ever wanting to move a team again after the Sonics fiasco. Wasn't that one of the sticking points when Ballmer was apart of that effort to buy the Kings?
(I also wonder if the NBA regrets that considering how hilariously corrupt Kevin Johnson is and the (bleep) the kings have become under the current ownership) _________________ *sighs*

Seems kind of pointless to even talk about this right now their staples center lease runs out in 2024. That's a long time away. _________________

No way I see them leaving the LA Market....I am not an expert in market valuations on the West Coast and their relation to team value.....but I can't imagine there is another market that could come close to competing. I would not be surprised if the team decreased 20% in value the day they moved to Seattle.
NBA should have never allowed 2 teams in the city. At least should have had one in Anaheim or one of the LA sub metro's instead on both in LA. |

I have read the fans are in too much agony from the heat to think about using tech in Levin. |

Anaheim I always thought was a great location for them. Other than that, go back to Seattle or play in Vegas would make sense too. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

8 years is not that long when you consider how long it can take to find a piece of property large enough to accommodate an arena, ESPECIALLY on the West side, do the zoning, environmental studies, permits, design, and construction. |

Yeah you are looking at 5-6 years at least. The Rams were fortunate in that Kronke already owned the land. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Was just looking at the list of oldest arena's, and I had no idea Oracle (Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena) was older than Madison Square Garden.... |

My thought exactly. It's like hanging a "C" paper on the fridge from the other child who's always bringing home "D"s and "F"s. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |
