beat some good playoff teams atleast one time.

The kids learn and show the ability and willingness to share the ball and play as a team. I want to see improvement individually but I really want to see them build chemistry and build the right culture going forward. I think ideally we win 25ish games and still have a chance at a top 3 pick. We're not going to make the playoffs and winning 30 plus games isn't going to spark westbrook or anyone else's interest imo its only going to weaken our chances of keeping the pick. I don't want to tank anymore, but with as bad as we did last year I think we can still show big improvement and maybe keep our pick. Oh and hopefully we're fun to watch again that'd be great.

Brandon Ingram has to be a star for us to have a chance next year at least playoff berth wise...

To me Ingram is the clear cut sure thing on this squad.

If playoffs are out of question I would take 30 wins and a growth from our core.

28 wins, but if they get close to that, like 25, depending on the quality of the losses, and the quality of the play on the court I would view it positively.

I think second round of the playoffs would be a bench mark.

The Lakers have to pony up two first round picks for Howard and Nash.

Might as well get it over with as have the prospects now. Just need them to
turn into players. Can't have a team of first round picks.

Getting a first round pick next year and lakers will turn into Philly. Always in the celler with a first or second pick. But not doing anything about it or not improving. Picking 4 centers.

They players are there. They just have to improve.

Tanking another year means nothing has improved.

2017 pick goes to Philly. But do have 2018 pick to fill whatever hole that remains.
Then 2019 pick goes out also.

But then hopefully the time of no more bad decisions for Lakers have paid the price and have a young core.

If we make it in to the top 3 on lottery night, we only have to pony up one pick. And it's not like their goal is to keep the pick this year, it is just one possible scenario.

Clarkson and Russell showing close to or all star potential. Ingram getting bigger and having a strong 2nd half and winning 35 games or more.

25 Games left in the season....we have the 4th worst record....bunched closely with the teams with the 3rd, 5th & 6th worst record.

Do we tank to increase odds of keeping pick?

No major injuries
Ingram (shows flashes of star potential)
Russell (shows he can be the 2nd best player of his draft)

But give yourself a chance at keeping your pick if it's not looking good after ASB.

No reason to just give up your possible Top 3 pick if playoffs are all but hopeless. Go for playoffs in 2018.

Nope, we keep pushing.

No way! Tanking is over.

Time to start developing the talent that previous tanking has provided and win some games.

I will remain overly optimistic of a playoff spot earned. If not, I want them to have just missed and an "against all odds" top 3 lottery pick from the teens when the lottery balls fall.

We play an entertaining style, the young guys develop, we win some games, play defense, and no drama. That would be a success in my eyes.

Just my opinion, but I don't think there is a lot separating us from the Suns, Nuggets, and Kings. We can take 'em!

Not tanking, but there are some moves that seem likely in the name of development and fan appeasement. There will be a strong push from fans and media to start Ingram and to let him finish. Maybe a strong push to give Zubac more minutes. However the standings look, I think these things are likely, and on a strictly short term, game by game basis, they are less than ideal. But long term is the goal isn't it?

That's when we start increasing Ingram/zubac's minutes. Make a push to win games against tankers and playoff teams resting. End the season on the upswing.

In order of importance:

Watch game 10 and game 72 and see an amazing improvement in how the team executes on both ends.

Win north of 30 games in a competitive West.

Walton proves out to be a very good coach even if he has a misstep or two.

Any of the players individually show real star potential.

Right. Which isn't tanking. Tanking would be benching Dlo for Calderon, and benching Ingram for Nick Young, etc

wow, some of you have unreasonably high expectations. This is going to be a rough season for you.

If we hit 30-35 wins next season, we have over-achieved. We are projected to be the worst team in the West for a reason.

Successful season:

1. 28-35 wins
2. Run a solid system and compete every night (put in effort)
3. Improve our defense
4. Young guns improve. Clarkson in particular has to shift to a new gear, as he is 24 yrs. old.
5. Maintain cap flexibility

Yup. We will do the opposite and play them more and tell them to win.
