Will Lakers management be patient while rebuilding with youth?

Quote:
The Lakers just need to be patient and let the players develop.

The question is will Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak let that happen?

Lakers Must Avoid the Temptation of Trading for Jahlil Okafor

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Philadelphia 76ers could be moving on from Jahlil Okafor. Should the Lakers be interested?

Lakers Team Up with Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

With the start of the NBA season just around the corner, the Los Angeles Lakers staff came together to assemble food boxes at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank in the first Team Up event of the season.

Lakers Team Up events are designed to encourage Los Angeles residents of all ages to volunteer in their community and engage in service projects, and for this the first Team Up of the season, the freshest Lakers faces, draft-picks Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac teamed up with 50 Lakers employees to serve.

Knowing Philly, they will ask for Russell to get back the player they wanted before they got Okafor, I personally will do Clarkson + Nance Jr to get Okafor and 2017 top 3 unprotected pick, if the Sixers are really motivated to trade.

I'd do that deal to get our pick back, but not straight up. I like both of our players better than Okafor.

If we can get the 2017 pick to be unprotected I will personally do the trade... Maybe instead of Nance/Clarkson it can hypothetically be Randle for Okafor swap and our pick back.

Luke Walton Comments on Brandon Ingram, D'Angelo Russell, State of Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers haven't cracked 30 wins since the 2012-13 season, but new head coach Luke Walton will attempt to reverse course and lead the Purple and Gold back to prosperity during his first year at the helm.

And if Walton hopes to gradually restore the Lakers' status as one of the NBA's most exciting young teams, he'll need to develop the talents of youngsters Brandon Ingram and D'Angelo Russell along the way.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Daily News' Mark Medina, Walton said he sees big things ahead for the 20-year-old point guard:

5 Things That Must Happen in 2016-17 Season

Quote:
With the 2016-2017 season coming around the corner, here are five things that must happen for the Lakers this year.

After the past few years of injuries, historically bad win totals, and the end of an era for the Los Angeles Lakers, the upcoming season is the first step in what most fans hope will be a quick rebuilding process.

Will Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov justify their long-term costs to Lakers?

Quote:
Will the Lakers get their money’s worth from those two deals?

Or, three years from now, will those contracts be seen as anchors on an up-and-coming team’s path back to contention?

Lakers fans are understandably skittish after the kind of Carlos Boozer/Roy Hibbert moves the front office made in recent years, signings that felt like a team trying to tank without looking like they were trying to tank.

The Mozgov and Deng contracts are better than that. These aren’t the signings of a team seeking to tank.

The Case For Rudy Gay In LA

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly shopping Rudy Gay, should the Lakers be interested?

Quote:
If the Lakers decided to acquire Gay’s contract, there would be no long-term commitment.

His contract would come off of their books next summer if he decided to opt out of his current contract and with the money that players are getting with the increasing salary cap, he most certainly will.

Gay will make roughly $13.3 million this season and the Lakers would have to match his salary if they wanted to make a move.

A trade involving former Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams and Nick “Swaggy P” Young would do the trick, and it would actually make a ton of sense for the Kings.

Lakers 2016 Training Camp Preview: Let the new era begin

As Los Angeles opens training camp, we examine the likely roster battles that will ensue and the questions they will have to resolve in structuring the team's rotation.

Quote:
To say that this training camp has been greeted with more anticipation among Lakers fans than the past few years goes without saying: this is the proverbial start of a new era, with the Lakers' new core pairing with a dynamic, young, and promising head coach to lead them away from a Kobe Bryant-dominated epoch.

Accompanying this new transition is the establishment of a new hierarchy on the team that replaces the one that was centered on Kobe, for good or ill, for much of the past two decades.

For the most part, the greater contours of this new hierarchy are fairly unambiguous. To wit, Luke has spoken at length of the leadership and leading role that D'Angelo Russell will play on the team and the remainder of the young core, whether Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson, or otherwise, will fall behind him on the totem pole to varying degrees, at least for the purposes of next season.

The team's veterans, Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov in particular, are there to supplement the young core and aid them in their development, both in the locker room and on the court. Overall, the Lakers will go as far this year as their young players will take them and the roster is structured around that notion.

Continue... Let the new era begin!

Question remains:

Will Sacramento deal with the Lakers? When was the last time the Kings made a trade with the Lakers? I guess if Kings really want to get rid of Gay they probably won't care who they trade with.

How the Lakers Spent Their Summer

Quote:
The offseason is officially ticking down to its conclusion, as the Lakers will hold their annual media day on Monday before immediately shipping up to Santa Barbara for training camp.

This year's squad will be a blend of familiar and new faces who all kept busy over the summer, both on and off the court.

We begin with the returning players, who featured quite a few young guys that had some fun mixed in with plenty of hoops.

Why in the world would we want Rudy Gay on this team? Makes no sense.
