We got the 6th pick in his draft for nothing. We got him at 28 years of age, which typically is the maturest time of an NBA player's game. Shaq, Jordan, Curry just missed 28 for his first championship.
I've got others I can name, but my point is 28 is about the time players are fully matured physically, emotionally, and even economically. In effect we let the other teams raise him, and now stand to possibly stand to benefit the most, while doing the least but scout him, and sign him.
And 1 year too? Good move Lakers. |

Exactly. Other than drafting Ingram/Zubac and trading away cap space for Calderon/2nd round pick, I consider this one of the safest moves we've made this summer. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Meh... I prefer Yao Ming or Wang Zhizhi, but Yi will do just fine. Yi always seems to beast in 2k11 for some reason. |

I also read that Yi gains confidence when the team shows trust in him, we have the perfect team to do just that. |

I started the thread title cause there is to much Yi talk and it seems to me that most are just debating and are complaining for no reason. |

When you make a poll, the poll options need to be more general and less specific. Otherwise, the poll means nothing.
For instance, the options here should just be Yes, No, or Undecided. Then, people can provide color based on their choice in their post.
Some people may not like the signing, but not think he is worthless and a scrub.
Or, people may like the signing but not think he comes cheap. |

I think it fits the game plan they're going with - bring in short term vets to provide mercenary services while the younger players improve. The bigger goal seems to be "hold pattern and hope eventually a big name signs here." _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview |
