The release on his shot is actually quicker. I think that's what the coaching staff is emphasizing, which is why it looks more fluid than what we saw in his stint in China.

Looking really good so far. Can't wait to see him play.

I saw him shoot exactly one shot, lol, but I drew the same conclusion as you. His shot looked a bit quicker than what we saw in GT's breakdown of his game.

That makes me a bit more optimistic that he'll be able to function as a "real" stretch 5 (in the vein of Horford --- not a great 3 point shooter but good enough to keep defenses honest).

I think Yi can help the Lakers and play maybe even center. I think he can maybe start at power forward too. Do you think he can win the job?

I would be surprised if Yi was a starter to begin the season. That being said it is possible he could win the job. Yi has all the talent and skills to be a very good player it just need to translate to real games consistently.

Yi is the 15th man, 3rd big with Tarik. Expectations should be appropriately applied here. Of course we all hope Lakers strike gold

He said he's been working out at the facility for two weeks. Probably put in some time with Theo, Jud or someone for the shooting. They could have pointed something in his form, causing him to change it.

If the above turns out to be true, I'm sold on the coaching staff already.

After one whole summer with these coaches, Randle's gonna come back shooting like Dirk

Yi headlined on many chinese tv networks: https://www.youtube.com/results?sp=EgIIAw%253D%253D&q=%E6%98%93%E5%BB%BA%E8%81%94

Lakers are indeed a big thing over there.

Yi Jianlian Not Worried About Re-Adjusting To NBA

Quote:
Yi Jianlian will return to the NBA this season for the first time since the 2011/12 campaign, and while his one-year contract with the Lakers is mostly non-guaranteed and packed with incentives, the fact that it can be worth up to $8MM suggests the team believes the Chinese forward can be productive. For his part, Yi says he’s not worried about re-adjusting to the NBA after spending the last several seasons in China.

And Yi gave him a very comical stare for asking it.

He'll be lucky if he gets anything more than garbage time.
Right now he's filling the role that was Robert Sacre's....

Yi is intriguing. I'm interested to see how he fits. He's got a lot of versatility out there. A big his size who can shoot is a rare commodity.

Someone tell that reporter this is not Mao's Communist China anymore , I think their tax rate is comparable to that of the US, heck, if Bernie Sanders became President, Yi would probably pay more in taxes than he when he was living under the Chinese Communist Party .

2k17 made Yi relevant, that might be a sign that he's ready to become a different player.

If he can just play the role of a Matt Bonner, play around 10 minutes or so, hit the open jumper at a decent clip, I'll be more than happy.

If he uses his length and agility to shut down P&Rs defensively, I'll be happy.

Yes I'm most interested in seeing his versatility defensively. If he can be a big who at least doesn't get destroyed on pnr containment I'd be excited. Couple in his outside shot. He can be a poor man's modern day ideal center - Versatile on pnr defense, not a non factor on offense.

Yi averaged 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds in his five seasons in the NBA.

If Yi can duplicate those numbers I'm sure everyone would be ecstatic!
