"Jianlian We Hardly Knew Yi!"

I saw him in the Olympics and actually thought that he would make it.

I was pulling for him but it became obvious that he was struggling. Good luck to him.

I think with a little development he could have made it in the new system. Although always better to be a star than 3rd string

I agree.
Yi had to do what was best for his future. I wish him well.

good riddence. T Rob should be the final guy.

Make Metta an assistant coach and let T Rob be #15.

Moz/Black/Zu
Randle/Nance/Rob
Deng/Young/Brown
Ingram/Clarkson/Lou
Russell/Calderon/Huertes

GP2, Hunter, and Bentil waived.

Is TRob better than them? I could argue all 3 serve more functions than TRob.

Depends on perspective. You could if you only allow yourself to see TRob as a 3rd stringer who will never get minutes, but I could easily make an argument that if we played 15 games, 5 with Randle, 5 with Nance, and 5 with TRob, TRob would be more statistically productive on an individual basis than both Randle or Nance.

I would drop him for GP2. We could use a young defensive guard on this team. I think he's a good fit in this system and a very good fit next to Dlo.

not sure I see this, he was undrafted, almost 24, performed poorly in the preseason shooting 25%, and maybe most importantly he is 6-2/6-3 PG

I would drop Marcelo for him, but I hope the Lakers at least try to sign, cut, and assign him to the Defenders.

Great minds think alike. This is what I said in the other thread. It's a long shot though.

So the question is, which players look better in a suit on the end of the bench?

in general, your against seeking to have the most talented 15 players possible on the roster? You are unaware of teams that injuries have led to 3rd stringers having to start?

Your reading comprehension is really poor. I have always been in favor of leaving a roster spot open, just in case.

just in case of what? Is there a new rule that a player cannot be waived to open up a roster spot?

Sacre started a game last season, courtesy of Lord Byron. MWP started 5 games.

Injuries, wear&tear, burnout inevitably happen throughout the course of an 82 game season. The 15th man has more significance than you think.

TRob strikes me as a guy who could be the 10th man if he fixes his basketball IQ issues.

In case we can end up with a player like, maybe Tarik Black? I won't explain the difference between guaranteed and non-guaranteed salary to you.

Lakers Waive Yi Jianlian

Posted: Oct 24, 2016

EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers announced today that they have waived forward/center Yi Jianlian, per the request of Yi and his agent.

"Yi was productive in practices and games with us, and was a consummate professional both on and off the court," said General Manager Mitch Kupchak. "However, he felt that the minutes and opportunities he'd be afforded here were not in line with his goals and ambitions, and that he'd be better off in a different situation. We appreciate his efforts and wish him great success as he goes forward with his career."

Yi, the 6th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, averaged 3.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game over six contests with the Lakers this preseason.

The Lakers roster stands at 16.

Thank god. Tarik took that back up center slot. I guess Yi didn't want to be the last man on the bench, which is understandable. Good luck to him in the future.
